I have an oscillating table fan that I set to be facing me last night. I had a dream I was sitting at a window seat on the train because of the constant breeze from my fan.  :D

Thats a pretty good imagination you have there.!

All you need now Tiffany is a friend to blow one of those wooden train whistle, and you will be all set!

I have a friend who's fiance is MADLY in love with SDC and he told her to plan their wedding. She wants to suprise him by having it at SDC. She doesn't really have a free weekend anytime soon but she would like to see pictures of the places mentioned in the wedding packages. The wedding isn't until next April. That's when he is supposed to be back home from the Army. Hopefully for good this time.
I have pictures of the church and the carriage. Does anyone have pictures (inside and out) of the Reunion Hall? Or does anyone have pictures from a SDC Wedding?  ???
It would be greatly appreciated!

My sister was cleaning out her closet the other day and found her old train whistle! Everytime she would come out of her room, whenever she needed something, she would blow the whistle nonstop til she got back into her room.  :D

Concerning the weddings, I'm sure you have probably already visited the SDC wedding site, but here it is just in case you haven't. It doesn't have a great variety of pictures though.

We've been to the website, that's why we were asking if anyone had any of their own pictures they would be willing to share.

It's hard to have a surprise wedding, when both parties have to apply together for the license.  ;)

Only surprise weddings I know of involve a shotgun   ;D ;D ;D

Ohhh I was going to do that for mine but when we set the date they were full booked the whole season. Tell her to get her wedding date secured pronto!

I was trying to suprise my wife with renewing  our vows for our 25th. anniversary, had made tentative arrangements with the City, but the wife didn't want to go to Branson then. Ended up babysitting the grandkids and eatting our anniversary dinner at Ryan's.
SDC has always made a great past to remember

we renewed our vows at Silver Dollar City our first anniversary and it was actually all my wife idea and a surprise at that. It was very nice.

I looked on Google and didn't find anything........ (as far as wedding pics for SDC).

But, you know what I have never had a problem getting exactly what I ask for from SDC guest relations. I would call them up and ask them to send you some pics. I am almost certain they would.

Oh and for the fan who's husband is from Texas and doesn't "get it". Wow, so sorry! lol

My husband is from NYC. I wasn't sure if he would "get it" or not. Our first season there together, we came home with just about ever CD sold on the park (show), he video recorded the Echo Hollow and Train Shows! He listened to the CDs every day at work till the next year, of course his NYC co-workers thought he had lost his ever lovin' mind! lol haha

Um, he got it, needless to say! lol And is just as passionate about going as me now. His parents are always wanting to go on cruises to the bahama's and he's like no I would rather go to SDC, you should come too, they have never been yet, lol. I'm not sure if they will "get it" though. lol But, thankfully Hubby did! lol haha

Another thing I found on Netflix quite by accident, as I'm ashamed to say I didn't even know this show existed but netflix starts suggesting things for you after you have watched so many shows/movies, and there is this series The Flatt & Scruggs TV show. If you have netflix I highly suggest it for a SDC show fix! I even love the Martha White commercials in it! lol We just found it tonight, and my husband was laughing all the way through the first episode! haha

Also there is several radio shows we listen to in the car that gives us our SDC fix, one of my favorites is All Star Western Theater, we have been listening to this series for years. It's older so you will have to find it online and ask some one for a copy or what have you. (right now my CDs are packed up as we moved half way across country from NYC to Kansas and I can't find nothin'! And I'm full term pregnant due any day...so rumaging through boxes hasn't been a priority lately.). We also like the Bickerson's, and The Couple Next Door, and many other OTR (Old Time Radio) shows. All kind of give me that SDC fix when I need it. However, you can listen to a new show via internet called Prairie Home Companion that's another "SDC show fix" I get! lol haha

I personally wish SDC would have a internet radio show, I would listen! They could put on the Echo Hollar show and such, some of the older recordings if there is any existing of the street shows and what have you. One of the best ones they could probably broadcast all day every day is the Saloon show since a lot of it is improv, (the audience participation part) it could/would be different EVERY show! There was one show we seen at the Saloon I will NEVER forget. lol This guy from the audience that day that they pulled was down right hilarious, they were asking him basic questions and every answer was so vague you just bust up laughin! I think he was nervous to be up on stage, cause he forgot every thing. Like they asked him where he was from and he said home....and then they said what do you do for work, oh this and that...he was hilarious! Believe me, I would be there listening!

Which leads me to another thing, I believe SDC is missing the boat on a huge marketing thing where they could rake in some real money! My husband and I went on a cruise 10 years ago for our honeymoon, back then any "show" or just about anything you did on the cruise was recorded and for a price you could buy the DVD! I am thinking really how costly could it be to set this up with all those "improv" shows they do at the park. My husband and my step father have both been picked from the audience more then once at the Saloon, my nephews and nieces has been picked from the audience at other shows at SDC to do some of the improv stuff on the shows as well. I know my family would be more then happy to pay the price to buy the DVD of such. We didn't buy any DVDs on our cruise cause we never got selected to be in any of the shows, and none were that great in my opinion. BUT, I know for a certain we would of bought those Saloon show DVDs, and I know for a certain my husband would also buy the train show DVD! He loves that darn thing, he has dreams of retiring and working for SDC driving the train! I am not kidding this is now his dream job! haha (he loves trains by the way, that's really what he does in real life too! lol Works on trains, for 15 years now so it's no passing phase! haha) But, to me seems like a great souvinere, doesn't cost much money for them to produce, and doesn't take much room in our home! And I know my husband would be buying every one him or any of our family ever show up in, along with the train and echo hollar ones regaurdless, as he always tries to record them himself each year on his own any way, but with out having expensive "real" stuff to do this with we never get the quality of such that we would like. So again, I am sure it would be one thing we wouldn't mind dropping some money on. And we aren't real "souvinere shop" type people.

And as a BTW, I had wanted to get married at SDC too, it was always my plan/dream, but when it came down to it was really really sick while planning the wedding. (I didn't know I was in what is called Diabetic Keytone Acidoses, I didn't know I had diabetes, I had type one-the childhood kind). And we were trying to do things on a budget as well. So I gave it up. Now, with the website being so easy to navigate (back then it was very basic with very little information on it), I see that getting married there is so cheap (I mean in comparison to other places, I did pay less for ours cause we just got married in a city park and what have you but still I had no idea we probably could of swung the SDC money!)  I wish I would of stuck with it and did it there. But, like I said I was very (in fact gravely ill, they only gave me two weeks to live, and I was only released from MICU at the hospital only days before getting married) so I just didn't have the strength to plan it there like I wanted, and figured it would cost too much any way so just went with in my own home town. However, after I have now seen the prices we HAVE to do a vow renewal there! HAVE to!
