Well said, Tiffanylynnt!  I used to ask my wife "Do I obsess about SDC?"  (Her answer was "Yes, sometimes"). I also take relief from all the other fanatics who found this site.  If you're going to have an addiction have a healthy one!  I'm also addicted to westerns.  I thank SDC for that as well.  :D
I also love westerns because of SDC, and Jesse James. That might have something to do with growing up 5 miles away from Meramec Caverns and my first job (not really job, I wasn't paid) was working with my cousin at the Jesse James Wax Museum in Stanton.

tiffanylynn-I can think of two people off the top of my head who are negitve like that. They are walking fallacies....My inlaws.....its rather special.
My sister can be excessively negative toward the City. It makes me so mad because she has no reason to hate it. She complains about it from the day it is announced we are going to the second we walk thru the front gate, but after that, she has nothing but a smile on her face all day until she falls asleep on the way home. Seems kinda suspicious...  ???
The other day I told her she wasn't allowed to talk to me ever again because she said something mean about SDC.

I can close my eyes on FITH and know exactly where I am before I open my eyes! I also know exactly when to say "Fire in the hole!!!" based on what seat I'm in. I can also do this with "Here's a bucket of laughs" and "Red Flanders!" and I know every word to the song  ;D

I have a Jesse James fascination as well. This summer we went to KC and went to 2 different Bank Robbery sites, as well as Lexington (where he was shot). My friend lives in Stanton, and every time we head out there, I regret never having gone to the Wax Museum. a few years ago in college a guy in my art class did a museum/gallery review of the wax museum for our upper level art criticism class (you should have seen the conceited professor's face!). My review wasn't much better, I reviewed the Lewis and Clark Museum in St Charles MO.

I have done some research on the James family, and have found 5 instances of my family name in the James family tree. My name is not that common, except that we have a pretty good legacy in MO/ civil war.

My brother had a fascination with Jesse James when we were kids and on the way home from one of my many surgeries we stopped there and my arm was in this contraption of a brace and my brother tied my shoe, and the little old lady in the shop was pleased as punch that he would be so kind as to tie his sisters shoe......little did she know he grumbled the whole time he did it! lol.

I have the map saved on my computer for quick reference. However, my desktop background is always something Silver Dollar City related. It just gets me in the spirit each time I log on.  :D

I see the conversation had turned to Jesse James...and Tiffany, I wondered if you could ask family members about Jesse James Territory, a roadside attraction/theme park that used to be at Sullivan? It existed in the late 60s/early 70s until Six Flags killed it. Long before  your time, but I'm curious what your family or family friends that are older than you remember about it. I visited Jesse James Territory several times as a kid, and my cousin was the Undertaker in the street skits that revolved around Jesse James being captured and hung on a gallows. In the end, the gang members shot through the noose and Jesse made a quick escape! If you look back on the "other parks" heading, you will see a long conversation about Jesse James Territory and the fact that it is now not anything more than an empty field on the edge of Sullivan with some houses and small industrial businesses around the permimiter of the land.

Junior, sorry I keep forgetting to ask people about the Jesse James Territory. I'll ask my Aunt Alene if she remembers it. I should see her Saturday. She would probably be the one to know about it because she has lived in Sullivan since 1942!

I always end up being the unofficial hospitality liasion for the smoking area. Anyone needs to know where something , I try to help them out. Besides, why do any of us need the map. Dont we all have it memorized by now?

A couple summers ago, I was in line for the Giant Swing and there was a mother & daughter trying to figure out the map. They wanted to ride WildFire after the swing so we walked over there together, without even concentrating on the desination, and they were like, "How did you do that!?"

:) :) Congrats. Now if SDC would hire "tour guides" and all you did all day was walk people to their destination......a lil song and dance thrown in here and there for amusement.....you would have a job!
