I'm an ACW reenactor as well..but I may only do that 8-9 times a year lol Are you with a local group? I need to find one...

Junior

I was so used to being outdoors working during my years at SDC, heat and cold did not bother me too much. It was a luxury to be at the diving bell because there were heavy duty blowers that kept air circulating in the tunnels leading to the capsules, and the capsules were air conditioned...but by the middle of the day the heat beating down on the metal roof/asphalt roof of the building and the crowds of 75 people jammed into capsules meant the AC ran hard all day and could not always keep up. I was outside though, at the AP, Tom Sawyer's Landing, Float Trip, Treehouse, Animal Petting Farm, One Mule Swing, and other attractions. Flooded Mine was air conditioned, but suffered like the diving bell when the lines got long and people jammed the loading area and hallway leading to it. Grandfathers Mansion also has AC, but same thing as FM and RDDB. I was young and could handle it then, but now, Forget it. Grandpa likes his AC!
"Howdy there folks! My name is Junior Dugan, and I'll be drivin' your diving bell!"

I don't usually post to here too much but I love reading the knowledge people share.

I was browsing YouTube and noticed something in this video:

I haven't seen it done before!

Only 3 cars. They all look full. Is that normal? Every time I have been there, there are alway 4.

thelarsonsix

They only had 3 cars a couple of weeks ago when we were there.

I think it is pretty normal!  It depends a lot on how many are expected at the park.

Train car restoration. Read beginning of thread for more details!

crsjrr

Any pictures of the new coach yet?  Is the new car being held until there is a complete set of new cars?  With the old coach donated to the Ichabod's train crash site, is the new car constructed of all new materials, hence a brand new car?  The car at the crash site doesn't appear to have the trucks with it, did the new car get the old car's trucks (wheel sets).  Can anyone confirm this?

cocodane3

Picture on pg one.  Holding the coaches till there is a set of four would require the train to sit there for three more years. This increases the wear and teAr on the old cars and makes it unable to run two train during busy times.

crsjrr

Has anyone or can any one get a side view picture of the car?  I would assume they would replace more then one car a year?  As it appears to be of new construction (?), an older car could continue to run to maintain capacity until enough newer cars show up?  I suppose there would be some sort of testing period?  Maybe the newer car isn't compatible with the older cars?  Just an inquiring mind looking for details.

because inquiring minds want too know. lol
