it has been a few years since i have been out to the city so im so excited to soon be getting our season passes. can anyone recomind the times not to come.. the busiest days during the summer? since we don't live far we can come when ever so id like to avoid the busiest times of summer if possible ..

Avoid Fri-Sat-Sun. Go on a weekday, prior to school being out or after it starts again. Arrive early, maybe an hour before rope drop, better parking, and eat breakfast at the Mill. After rope drop, rush to the big rides like the roller coasters, and avoid long lines. By about 11am or noon, the house will be rockin' but you will have already been on park for three hours and will have had a chance to do some of those big rides. Eat a good lunch and see as many shows and shops as you can fit in. Have Fun!

Junior summed it up pretty perfectly. The only thing I can add is that crowds are often unpredictable at this park. Any random day could be quite crowded or quite sparse. The weather plays a HUGE factor in attendance. If it looks like it will be sunny and nice, it may be a packed out weekend, but if there's rain forecasted I'd go ahead and go. You may have to wait for certain rides to open, but the park will probably be empty.

Last time I was there, there was a 20% chance of rain and it rained. The next day we went back, there was an 80% chance of rain, didn't have a cloud in the sky all day long. So you never know!

I would never do this very often but I wil have to disagree with Junior a little bit. We pretty much go down once a month or so and normally we will go down on Thursday night. We hit SDC on Friday and more times then not it is not real busy in the morning. In the afternoon it is a little busier but still not bad. Saturday is usually bad I would even classify Sunday not to bad just because most people are heading home for the weekend. Though if one can make during the middle of the week that is the best.

A crowded/rainy/cool day at SDC is WAY better than a sunny day at home. Though I do prefer sunshine over rain  ;)

I myself just try to avoid Saturday altogether, if its anything close to being a nice day Saturday is going to be busy.  Sunday is a pretty good day to go because in the morning there is a small crowd with a lot of people going to church.  The afternoon usually is pretty crowded because church is over and they start to file in.  In other words small crowd morning large crowd afternoon.

I almost never go on sat.. If I do, it is because I am on a mission...

We make several trips early sunday mornging, you can really do/see alot before it gets crowded.. Alot of time we are leaving sunday and people are just starting to arrive...   AND mondays are about the same way...

typically we leave by early afternoon to avoid the crowds.....

But remember we go 15-20 times a year,  SO if we go early and leave early, and miss something? we will see it next time ;)

HAVE Fun when you get there!

I love going to the wilderness church on Sunday mornings. Parson Lee and Linda are awesome.  ;D

The key really is getting there before rope drop, as others have said.  You can get in many attractions before the masses get there, even on Saturday, if that is the only time you have.  You just can't dilly-dally if you want to take in the major attractions without waiting in longer lines.  If you are a coaster person, take care of those first.  You may do some criss-crossing to get in the major attractions, but it is not as bad as some parks.

Then, especially when it is hot, plan some shops and shows during the heat of the day.  Try to eat during off-times.  Or, if you have many days, leave during the heat of the day and do another morning.  We have come back for the last hour of operation and the night show, too.  That last hour is often prime coaster time, as well.

We spent 3 consecutive days at SDC last July, and were there at rope drop every day. It was blazing hot, but the crowds were tolerable, and the lines were moderate. Hands down, the busiest days we have ever spent at SDC were last May, on a Saturday when there was a regional band competition going on, and there were about 100 school buses in the parking lot! The crowd level on that day was horrendous. lines were so long it was miserable. The second busiest day was last October, during fall break (Thurs/Fri) where there was wall to wall people and horribly long lines. My husband and I go every year around our anniversary in April, and if we go during the week, we can walk on any ride and stay on until we've had our fill!

I avoid Saturdays at Silver Dollar City during the months of June, July, and August like the plague! It is hot, packed with super high energy kids, and you will spend more time standing in line, than you will enjoying each attraction. Or, so my luck has gone. ;)

Weekdays will always be your best time to go any day of the year. :)

9a-2p yall. After 2 if you are not playin the lookie loo game or watching a show the lines are forever and a day long. Seriously. Go for a couple days to get everything in. Summer is fun but HOT HOT HOT!! and the water ride lines will put you to Christmas. But I would rather have a hot day with long lines at SDC then home in the kiddie pool.

That's right Trams.... that is the way we do it.. as i have said before..  Hit it early, enjoy yourselves ( whatever that takes)..  See what we want, Do a few rides or activities, catch the shows if you can...  AND get out!!! When we leave there are always people shoulder to shoulder trying to get in..

LOL..

of course we are lucky enough to go down at least once a month or so... So if we miss simething, we will see it next time

i know others arent that lucky..

Sometimes we spend a few consecutive days every month or so in Branson during the summer. That's when our season passes come in handy because we'll get up for breakfast at SDC, leave and go do Branson-y things, come back for GAC Nights, go back to the hotel, crash, and do it all over again the next day, mainly because SDC can get really crowded during the summer time. We do spend some days where we stay at SDC all day long, but it usually gets too hot or too crowded. But we have found that during the middle of the week is usually the least crowded.
