My family stayed at the Riverboat Motel when I was a teen-ager back in the 1980's.  Our family has "shopped" at Ozarkland many times.  I hope they can be saved or rebuilt.

Junior

Yup, if I make a  trip I will post many SDC and Branson photos...be looking about Thursday evening of next week!

Damn, Ozarkland too? That's too fairly significant Branson icons now (significant to me at least).

I went down the strip from Fall Creek Rd to the east for the first time since the storm today.  It was amazing.  Nearly every structure on the north side of 76 from Dixie Stampede eastward has significant damage.  Branson Heights was completely destroyed.  From there the tornado crossed 76 continuing directly east.  I didn't drive through that neighborhood but could see major damage down the street.  Cleanup is proceeding with much of the scattered debris already removed.  Work continues on power lines.  It will be a while before that section of 76 is back and fully functional.

Wow! I keep hoping that the damage was isolated, but it seems to be more spread out than I first realized. What are the odds that the tornado would slice through so much of Highway 76 like that. I'll be looking forward to the update pictures Junior, and anyone else who happens to take some.

yea shave!! Ozarkland and the River Boat Motel, both hit hard...

The Yellow airplane above the Mini golf on the south side of strip was broken in half also.

Not really an icon, but JR"S motel has been there a while took a big hit also!

here is an interesting video about the tornado path.

This video was perhaps the most compelling storm video I have ever seen! The path of this tornado went right over the little trailer park on Mt. Branson I lived in while working at SDC all those  years ago! Several of the trailers were destroyed. I shudder to think about those who live there today. Candlestick Inn destroyed...a Branson institution! Town residents are so fortunate there were no fatalities. Thanks for posting. This was quite sobering to watch.

Wow, what a video! Very detailed, and eye opening. I had no idea the Candlestick Inn got struck too. It truly is an iconic landmark. In fact, I never go to the Landing without taking a picture of it from the banks. That was a very well done video, although it crushes my heart to see the damage. Tornados are interesting because when looking at the bigger picture, they cut through such a narrow path. However, that path is so unbelievably destructive. It's all about being in just the right spot.

Since the tornado finally over the last week I have been all around town. If it wasn't for the hills, it would have been really bad. It literally jumped through town instead of a solid path. The good news is everyday gets better, everyone is working hard and cleaning up, etc.  The positive attitude this town has, it's amazing! Branson is recovering nicely and quickly. There are some areas that will take longer than others but so far it may all get done sooner than we all thought? Here's to hope & positive attitudes!  :)

Thankfully Branson is filled with passionate, and hard working people who treat the city as a member of their own family. Even from day one I have not heard many people complain about "why did this have to happen," or similar. Everyone has just accepted it as what it is, and gotten right to work.  :)

So, how is the reconstruction going? Has anybody heard if there are plans to rebuild Ozarkland and the River Boat Inn? Hopefully the strip will be returned to as normal as possible.
