I have the Sullivan's mill cinnamon bread recipe.
Time to put it to paper!

Well, at least we all have our priorities straight. First order of business, breakfast! :D Just like the old days. Besides a Silver Dollar City breakfast always beats a cheap motel continental breakfast.

The more I think about it the more I dont want the recipes from SDC. Because its not the bread alone that tastes fantastic. Its the bread with the people in the ozarks and the anticipation of rope drop. Its the skillet meal in the styrofoam bowl with the 5 ft skillet and the noise of happy guests. The ambiance that goes with eating the amazing food. I believe it would not taste the same should I make it at home even if I had the right ingredients. When ya make it at home its just dinner at home. The special sparkle is gone.

1st thing to do - come in and proclaim "We're Home"!

I have to confess, I've never been there nearly early enough for breakfast or the rope drop. Maybe when I was a kid, if they did that back then, but even then I think we always had breakfast at the camper or cabin (being cheap sorts), then arrived mid-morning.

We have always done "after 3, next day free". Even the year we bought season passes the timing didn't work out to use our BAFs for all the kids (let me tell ya, I seriously crunched some numbers that year to find the best bargain!)

Don't get me wrong, I'd buy the whole family season passes, plus a condo, if I had the money. I'd love to spend a full 5-7 days carefully exploring the parts of the City that have always been a blur. But life is life, and it takes some very careful planning to get in even one trip to the City and still pay the bills.

Amen to that!! If it wernt for my mommy purchasing lunch for me at the city we would pack pb an J. Which I think we are doing this visit due to my kids wanting ribs........

Food prices have gotten so high, and portions smaller, so we won't be eating there as often, as well.  It used to be that we could purchase one skillet dinner and share, but not so much any longer.  And those frozen lemonades?  Yikes!  I think we'll be making one at home once we leave the park and carry around water bottles.  But, that cinnamon bread is a must have!

If the first trip is with the kiddos, we have to measure first. And on the way I will once again wish the measuring station was more central. Anyway the youngest will be very close to TNT height.

If the first trip is without them, I honestly have no idea. I can't remember what we did when adults made all the choices.

It's neat to see how other people time their day at Silver Dollar City. For me, attending the opening ceremonies, and the rope drop is an absolute must. Yet when I leave in the afternoon, I still see dozens of people at the front entrance who are just starting their day there. I am sure the "come after three, and the next day is free" has a lot to do with it. However, it is still fascinating.

Same thing I always do. Walk into the Apple Butter Shop. No matter if I arrive at 11:00 or 9:30, it is always the first place we go into. It was the same way when it was located down by The Plunge. We would walk slowly, just take it in and go in for a smell of turnovers (or the remaining scent of what was once turnovers!) and just meander our way through the city. First real thing this time will be figuring out our clearance with the stroller since that is a whole new ballgame for us!

I am surprised to see how many people (including myself) who choose to use their sense of taste as their first real indulgence at Silver Dollar City. There is just something about those sweet, mouth watery delights that sooth the soul. Of course, after I eat that gigantic cinnamon roll I must race down, and up the hill to PowderKeg. :-X :P

The Apple Butter Shop is always a very inticing place.  They always have all those great free samples to try out  :).
