Ahh Sarsaparilla.....
I will be the first to admit it, I have an addicton. Now we all gather here because our obsessions/ addictions run in relatively the same circles, here is my story.

Mine drink obsession is to Sioux City Sarsaparilla (and the other various products-but mostly the Sarsaparilla). My wife knows it has been a tough day not by alcohol, but by the sarsaparilla being out when she gets home. It is included as bonus questions on my students tests in my class "what is Mr.____'s favorite soda?"
It is tough for them to not know seeing that this is now hanging on my wall....

I made this last week out of some spare sheet metal, plexiglass, and enamel paint after wondering how to enshrine my normal paperweight of a bottle of soda (they usually last about a week before I have to get a new paperweight!). Good thing I payed attention in Jr. High shop class when I made that tool box!

More posts to come on my Sioux City collection.

Here is my light up "bar style" sign for the Sioux City brand that includes the well known embossed bottle design that was introduced in 1987.

Wow! :o We need to check you into Root Beer Anonymous. ;)

Actually, that is all really cool! I love the hoarding, er uh collection. You did a great job on the emergency box, and I love the light up sign. Keep the collection going please!  ;D

That is my favorite!!! When it come to root beer, if it's not Sioux City, it's not worth drinking! I drink 3 or 4 during the day at SDC, and when I haven't been there in a while, I get one with my meal at Cracker Barrel. Those are the only two places I know where to get it, which makes me really sad. If I do run across a bottle at a gas station, or whereever, I put whatever drink I already had back and get Sioux City Sarsparilla.

^You can get it a lot of places if you look. I don't know if every Walmart carries it, but some do. Drug Warehouse and Food Pyramid do as well.

I have found it regularly at Home Goods / Marshall's in St Louis.

I have the paper products neatly filed, and packed away in a file cabonet, the bottles are displayed along the upper shelf of my drafting table. The caps/ crowns are in a bin with a divider holding the Sioux City caps. I am still looking for a perfect place to hang the bar sign

Wow, Rube!  All I can say is that's pretty awesome.  Now, me...I love sarsaparilla, but I will only allow myself to drink it at SDC.  I have done so since I was a little kid when Grandma used to buy it for me. That's just one more pleasure I get out of being at the City.    Now, to tame that root beer fix at home, I drink Fitz's root beer made in good ol' MO.

I doubt my mom would go out of the way just for root beer when she's grocery shopping, but if I had my own car, I would be all over it!!
