Noticed a couple of things...got a few questions.

I've noticed they've got the part where the hobo was taking a shower ... you can't see it because of a barrier. I hope that comes back.

The two times I've ridden it this year, they didn't do the bit where they say their "Ma" is on the train. That's always funny, especially when the woman says that, yes, they are indeed her children.

I guess the standard response when a woman does/did that was to break the 4th wall???

Cheers,

Eric

The hillbilly taking a shower is takin out. So the barrier wouldnt matter. The whole of hobo junction is gone cept for the train car....

In my experience, the script for the train robbery can change depending on how much time they have or don't have. I've ridden it before without the "Ma on the train" part.
"Red Flanders, you come back in here and put on your pants!" "Well Sadie, I ain't got no pants no more. The dang Baldknobbers stole 'em!"

I really hope they put the hillbilly taking a shower back in. Ma loved that part.

Train robbery script does change depending on the yes or no answer they get when they ask gal on train if she is really the Bolen boys ma. Also, if they don't have time to get into that, due to running more than one train, they sometimes let one of the Bolens run up to their little cabin to run inside and hide from the conductor who is threatening to shoot them, only for him to find the door locked. As he bends over to look in the keyhole, the conductor shoots him in his "brains." End of sketch.

The hobos of hobo junction and their related props are completely gone from the photos I have seen. The caboose they were on/near is still there. I seriously doubt we will see the hobos return considering how much else has been changed to be more PC in recent years, but there is a good likelihood that there will be new things to see on the train route next year with the opening of Outlaw, and I don't just mean the coaster itself.

Junior

Yes, the Hobo Junction props have been removed, don't know if they will come back, but I hope so...maybe in a location a bit removed from the new coaster.

That's a great idea, let's hope so.  I like the wreck, it's creepy.
I'm gettin' outta here, no matter what!

Can't a hobo just live on the side of the train tracks in peace anymore? He has been taking that barrel bath for decades now. When they took him out he looked like a shriveled up raison, but boy was he clean! :P

I do hope that gag (scene) returns. :)

We went this past weekend and rode the train for the first time in quite awhile.  Hobo Junction is indeed gone and in-fact, I was rather surprised how much the park expansion has diminished the ambiance of the train ride.  The hold-up wasn't as entertaining as it has been in the past and felt rushed, they didn't do the Ma on the train bit at all and the employees/actors didn't seem to try and sell their rolls very hard.  All-in-all, I don't think we will probably ride it again, it's not the same ride it once was.

Still on the subject of the train, but a little different question... Does anyone know why they switch Engineers everytime at the engine roundhouse?
Thanks,
Tony

I got it....to bring the show back to life I will play Alphie and Ralpies kid sister (insert name here as I couldnt think of a rhyming name at 830am) She is rambunctious and ready to prove to her brothers that yes she too can rob trains with the best of them.....too bad she is smarter than Ralph but dumber than Alph. All well.

There have been female train robbers in the past. Check out a copy of the SDC Guidebook from the early 80s. I remember the gal depicted in the photos. Same robbery skit as with Alphie and Ralphie, they may have just changed the woman's name or something.

By the way, sometimes when they run two or three trains to increase their passenger capacity on a busy day, the robbery is shortened, I saw them do the shortened robbery scene without the Ma bit last time I was on park a couple of weeks ago.

I don't know but that visual just made me gag a little. Thanks Ozark
