The 2011 Global Attractions Attendance Report is out and shows a list on the top 25 in several categories and how they faired.
Herschend Entertainment is in the top 10 entertainment companies and shows a 1% decline in attendance.
Unfortunately the are the only top 10 listed company that does show a decline.  I am noting that in other sections of the report declines in other companies are explained but not this one.  Interesting report is linked above.

MH,  that a great article,  HFEC is in a pretty elite group... odd about the 1% drop?
although in this case it is only 100,000 people...., That does no seem like very many people considering it is the entire HFEC group.
2011 saw a BAD winter, lots of t-storms and tornadoes throughout the Midwest and Eastern US.
be interesiting to see 2012 numbers with the mild winter we had this year..

I'd like to see SDC's numbers or individual park numbers as a company.

Gas prices continue to tumble heading into the summer season

Hershing? You mean Herschend?  ;)

That number is completely useless past knowing how the chain is doing as a whole. It doesn't say what parks or properties are included. I didn't think WA, SDC, WW, DW, and DSC brought in 9.5 million all by themselves. Then again, DSC and DW get huge attendance now, and WA's water park might have been counted by itself as well. Were the new management properties included as well? So many questions.

You are right Sanddune although $50 multiplied by 100,000 is a large sum of money.  I do wonder if this includes the companies that they have taken over management for. There are some new smaller parks on the roster are there not?
one in Denver and also didn't they take over Frontier City ( I think that's the name) in OK City?
The only bad deal is they were the only company that saw a decline, or maybe they didn't manipulate the numbers as much as the others.  I was considering the investments they are making this season and hoping that this helps boost attendance.
I can always go to the city on " off" days to avoid the crowds. We do however need the cash they spend so improvements and new construction can continue to occur.

shavethewhales.....Noted and corrected  ::)

I am interested on what Swoosh can add to the discussion, I am sure he has some insight into the situation. 8)

I read on another site where the SDC folks say their attendance is up ten percent so far this year over last year.  I'm guessing it has to do with the great weather so far and the fact that schools got out earlier due to the lack of snow days.

^Just saw that. Here's the link in case anyone else is interested: http://bransontrilakesnews.com/news_free/article_af1443a4-a6a2-11e1-850d-001a4bcf887a.html

I've been poking around looking for any attendance quotes in newspapers and such, but they've been amazingly guarded with that information past stating drops or increases in attendance in terms of percentages. I know the first exceeded 2 million in 1999, and it's definitely grown some since then with all their major additions, but it's also kind of stagnated and some of the crowd base has simply shifted. I estimate they're getting around 2.2-2.3 million on average lately, and that could rise to 2.4 or 2.5 million pretty quick with the new coaster, cheaper gas, and better weather.

My friends in the attractions office have been telling me that at SDC is up a good bit this year, and then today on KHOZ in Harrison talked to someone in the PR dept, and they said The park is up 10% over last year

That's great news, I hope they continue to expand and improve to attract customers.

i have to say and granted my spelling is not that good but some of the typos on this thread are pretty good "fart".
Ahyway I think some of the lower attendance also has to do with the high levels of table rock last year also. I know our condo complex saw less renters also and one of the reasons was because of the lake.
