Got to spend 5 hrs, yes 5yrs , in the Legoland Discovery Center at the Crown Center.

My kids, age 10 and 9 loved it.

The dark shootem up ride consists of several giant screens that you shoot objects being thrown at you. There's another ride thats basically a little spinning ride with arms that lift in the air if you peddle. the Indoor playcenter was rocking this midday Friday and the test track area where you make your own cars and race them is very popular.  My wife loved the 4d theater. She really loved the water and snow effects and she watched all 3 films.

My wife was against the Sealife Aquarium being that we eat at T Rex which has quite a bit of aquarium in it. T Rex was a hit as well. It's a good thing cause we used up so much time at Legoland, Sealife would have been rushed so it'll wait along with the Childrens area/model train part of Union Station.

I think it's a great concept, I understand that this was the largest of the existing ones and I think you'll see more. This is screaming Nashville to me but would love to see one in Memphis downtown near St. Jude for families to go to but like a Chucky Cheese it screams kids and germs. I think it needs about two more small flat rides and the test track was crowded and needed more tracks. The Minilands are quite the works of art.

For those of you that haven't checked it out yet - those links will take you to our coverage of the LDC-KC so that you can get a better idea of what he is talking about.

There are plans to expand the place to the 3rd floor of Halls next year, which will include a couple more rides.

This will make it about right.

I really see this as a concept they can still expand to other markets without it really stepping on the other centers target markets. Seems like most I've told about it didn't know it exists and we are 4 hours down the road.

Being from Memphis, I'm always thinking "what if" for that place. With the Pyramid still becoming a Bass Pro but now with a hotel as part of it and it being right off of I-40, Memphis has the perfect facility to retrofit much like the Crown and that's part of the Convention Center.

Yeah, but with Memphis still trying to get away from the "the city isn't safe" label - I don't see one coming there any time soon.

They are opening a new LDC in New York and one near Toronto next year

The I-40 and I-55 crossroad has been overlooked for silly reasons given the shear amount of travelers that pass through there.

Every big city has it's bad areas. This area isn't bad at all, all things big city considered. It's a block from St. Jude. There's a thriving  community called Harbortown very close by. Now, ask me if I feel safe(especially at night) in the area of KC between the Crown Center and Country Club Plaza or along the 71 corridor just to get there. Remember, I'm from Memphis and played at inner city schools including notorious Orange Mound.

Let me tell how secure I felt going to a concert at Memorial Hall back in the day (Dave Matthews and Big Head Todd).  For that matter, Kemper (4th row Eric Clapton among other shows)
