Buys out Lucusfilms from George for 4 billion and change in stock and cash.

Hmmmm. Wonder if they add a Dagobah System area to Animal Kingdon since they are messing it up with an Avatar area. Please let Lego keep the the Star Wars minilands?

Disney has also aquired Marvel comics recently. Wonder how this is going to affect Universal's theme parks.

Swoosh

1. Star Wars 7 out in 2015
2. LucasFilms land at DHS (rumor)
3. Marvel cannot be used in a Disney Park in Orlando as part of agreement.

4 Billion dollars??!!!????!!! :o :o

How many zeros is that?

I am actually REALLY excited about this! I wonder if Disney will facilitate releasing the non-SE Original Trilogy on DVD.

I would LOVE to see a Lucasfilms land at DHS. More Star Wars, get us some Indy Jones in Orlando, and who knows what else.

Yep, I'm actually totally excited about this.

If Disney is going to mess up and put an Avatar section in Animal Kingdom, why not a Dagobah System area.

You could do a whole park on Star Wars.

Joy

I don't know if they're even gonna actually do an Avatar section (which I have no problem with; there's some amazing worldbuilding in that movie, even if the narrative is weaksauce); it's been delayed, from what I've heard.

Man, I would LOVE a full blown Star Wars theme park. That'd certainly be a way for WDW to counter Wizarding World at Universal.

Swoosh

Star Wars would be the ultimate "Potter Swatter" for Disney.

First news I heard of the new Star Wars was here in the above posts...then I checked it out on CNN News on the Internet. I am glad to hear about these sequels. From the time they released the first film in '77 they said 9 films. Then, Lucas said something about only 6 films when the second three films were released. Now, if the storyline is strong, and they bring back the original actors in the lead roles..I can't wait! Luke, Leia, and Han as "oldtimers" bringing "balance" to the universe...so cool!  ;D

Do you think they will in turn produce more Indiana Jones sequels/ adventures? Obviously by the Star Tours, and Indiana Jones Ride @ WDL...there has been a relationship between the companies, and with Lucas wanting to concentrate on smaller projects...this was the best time for them to strike a deal.

If you have not been since the revamping of the Star Tours:The Adventure Continues Ride, that reopened at WDL in June 2011, the ride is 3d was very fun. What amazed me however was the amount of Star Wars merchandise that they were selling...EVERYTHING you can think of Star Wars was being sold, and I know Lucas was taking the majority of these profits...this I am sure helps control the overhead being that it is now all the same company.

Same way at WDW too.
You have a great past just ahead of you.

I rode the "old" Star Tours back in '96 at Orlando. Different theme, but...SDC's old Diving Bell 100 percent! Same technology completely, sans someone who stayed in the capsule with the passengers to provide that extra "live" touch.

Only in small roles, they have "aged" a bit.

IF they follow the novels, It could be really good, If they stay with what Lucus envisioned and if it's anything like what they did to the prequels, woof. The first prequel really poisoned the water for the over two which are ok.
