Planning a Trip to Holiday World this Summer

My husband and I are in the beginning stages of planning a tip to Holiday World in early June for our family vacation.  I haven't been since I was a little girl, maybe about six years old.  Back then, it was Santa Claus Land.

We are thinking about staying in a cabin at Camp Ruldolf.  We are thinking about staying three nights there while doing two days in the parks.  With a three-year-old, we would probably take a break in the afternoon, even thought the park doesn't seem to stay open late.  We also thought we would do the Lincoln stuff around there and see what there is in Santa Claus, Indiana.  We'd probably check into a motel for those days, though.  After a trip to Disney last summer, we are keeping things cheaper.

If anyone has any advice or reviews to share, we'd love your input!  Thanks!  :)

Holiday World is great! Free soda and water can't be beat! WhAt do you want to know?  You will have a great time!

Holiday World is an interesting park.  I always tell people that you "go for the waterpark and then stay for the woodies".  I'll be honest, if you are not much of a waterpark fan, there won't be much there to interest you, as the actual ride park is not overly big.  Sure it has 3 world class wooden coasters, but that is about it.  The theming is very minimal, just enough to say there is some.

It is a great park, but it is more of a waterpark destination than anything

My older daughter (14) will be glad to hear that about the water park.  She likes those better than regular theme parks any day.  I think we will have fun.  I know it won't be Disney or Sdc.

Cheer mommy, do you recommend eating in the park?  The turkey dinner has our attention.  Anyone stay at Camp Rudolf?  Is a cabin worth it?

Splashin Safari is a first class waterpark, I think your family will love it.  You probably noticed on their website they are adding some more slides for next season.  If you think you will spend most of your time in the waterpark, you might look at renting one of their cabanas.  That would give you a place to get out of the sun for a few moments and get a chance to rest.  I think they are building even more for next year.  We always eat in the park.  The food is not too bad and the pricing is pretty fair.

The best places to eat at the park are Plymoth Rock Cafe (think Thanksgiving dinner with the fixins) or the Alamo (has the best taco salads I've had at a theme park).

Honestly, I've never stayed at Camp Rudolph.  I usually just stay in Evansville

Thanks, Swoosh and Smoke.

And I just realized last night that I have been misspelling "Rudolph."  Doh!  Who knows why my brain misfires sometimes.

We have been three times. Twice we went for the day. Started in the regular park, then the waterpark and then back to the regular park. One other time we did two days and spent the night in jasper. Food is okay. Very reasonable in comparison to other parks. I think we did burgers in the Halloween section. Check for discounted tickets before you go. You often see the park owners greeting people when the park opens! Other questions?

Discount admission with Pepsi cabs or a huge discount for ACE members.

I suggest starting with the waterpark as the lines are shorter as soon as it opens and will grow longer once you hit noon. Around 2pm go to the ride park, lines there will be non existent
