I thought I would point out that several old SDC brochures and maps have been posted on Flickr.  It's the same guy that has the concept artwork:

They are using the Newspaper Map idea again. The map is big and great, easy for anyone to understand.. I think you would like it betamike! Oh, betamike could you maybe post some of the inside of the 1992 map??? I too use to take the maps and brochures home and look at the pictures and read it again and again.

Thanks guys.  I will scan the rest of the 1992 Silver Dollar City Times and post it to the Silver Dollar City photo group soon.  I had a bunch more of these over the years but sadly lost them.

I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the 1992 map/brochure as well.  I used to take them home and read them and look at the pictures too.  Seeing the scan of the 1992 map really brings back memories.  Thanks for posting these, betamike! :D

I love looking at old maps of parks, especially those from the 70's and 80's.

Work has me pretty busy this week but I will try to scan in the rest of the SDC times by the end of the week.  If not, by next weekend.

I *adore* the new park map. It's probably the most accurate park map they've had, while also being colorful (but realistically) and pleasing to the eye.

I want a huge souvenir version of the map.

As promised kids...the entire 1992 first edition Silver Dollar City Times.  All six pages.

You will find these also in the Silver Dollar City Flickr Photo Sharing Group.

Awesome! Thanks Betamike. The map looks a whole lot better now than it did that's for sure.

You're welcome.  It sure does look a lot better now than the 1992 version.  I like geometric style maps, but it lacked a lot of personality.

Ahhh...that 1992 brochure brings back a lot of memories.  Who can forget the Midwest Living Magazine Flower and Garden Festival?  Also interesting to see the Grand Palace schedule in the brochure.  This was back when that was a HFE property (or should I say Silver Dollar City, Inc. property? ;)).

I was just looking at the 1972 brochure and happened to see the old observation deck on the back of the OMP. This was ony open for a year or two when the second floor was an art gallery.  (It later was converted to offices). Cool reminder. thanks again for poasting these.
By the way, Lake Silver used to be a part of the train ride. The conductor used to call it his privite fishing hole, see a boat on it and fire a shot. Water would gush from the boat and the figure would rase it's fist in a curse. ;D

Too bad I'm too young to have seen that train ride gag.  I love stuff like that, and it sounds hilarious! :D

Wow!  That is some great info Old Guy!  I started going to SDC around 1972 but would not have remembered any of that. Thanks for the memories!

Are the offices you are talking about the same ones that you can see if you look up inside the OMP?
