WooooHoooo!!!  Congrats to Silver Dollar City on the Outlaw Run coaster.  My wife and I arrived at the park around noon on friday and was able to ride three times in one hour, from front to back, and I must say that is quite a wild ride, we loved it. The front seat was by far our favorite, but it's great no matter where ya ride. The ride attendents were actually allowing folks to dump their belongings on and around the barrels and the floor on the far side of the loading train. We decided to use a rental locker to store our backpack and hats, and it was actually quite handy since we rode three times.

The crowd in the city was surprisingly light yesterday.  SDC had two trains running on Powder Keg, which surprised us, and we rode that twice.  One train on Wildfire, but not much of a line. Also snuck in for a quick ride on FITH.

Unfortunately we were unable to ride the Giant Barn swing as the overflow from OR had the line for the swing out of the barn.  Looks like it's gonna be tough to get a swing in nowadays with the crowds in that area; and my wife loves that swing.

We watched the gospel bluegrass group at the gazebo while waiting for the Homestead Pickers to play. Those younguns do a fine job with their music, I think their bandname was Southern Raised?

Walked down to the picken shed for the 2:30 Pickers show and nobody was down there??? So we walked back to the front porch and nobody was out there??? Turns out they were all crammed inside of the homestead watching the Pickers play while it was 65 degrees outside and beautiful. Maybe they wanted to keep some folks out of the sun or something? But I hope it doesn't become a trend, because we really like the Pickers and can't tolerate being packed in that little cabin elbow to elbow. We hope to see 'em outside more in the future.

We grabbed a couple of drinks, our old dollar mugs were still honored, and swung by the candy place for some fudge, and were out of the gates and heading for the car a little after 3:00. Looking forward to the WorldFest and Bluegrass Festival and all the shows and music around the park during those times.

And looking forward to more rides on the Outlaw Run! I'm glad that ride is short, as it packs plenty of punch and it really keeps the line moving for those waiting to board. Great job by Rocky Mountain Coaster (I think that right?) and SDC. Two thumbs up!

Great review HikerDan.  Have you hiked around the Paul and Ruth Henning Overlook off 76 a few miles south of SDC?  We try to do that at least once a year on one of our SDC trips.

Howdy Duelist!  Yes I've hiked around that area twice I believe, but it has been several years so I can't remember a whole lot about that place.  I'm pretty sure that once I hiked in from the backside of that conservation area from a little county road off of Hwy.248.

I remember a very nice creek with maybe a small waterfall, and lots of giant Sycamore trees.  Seems like there was more than one trail as well. Jane and I need to walk around there again sometime this spring; thanks for reminding me of that place. I spend most of my hiking time in Arkansas, but do frequent some areas around Missouri as well.

Silver Dollar City can even be a fairly decent workout if ya walk up "heart-attack hill" enough times in a day!

Got to the City around 11AM due to rain. headed right to Outlaw Run and had only a 8 minute wait. What can I say "AWESOME".
Got back immediately and had to wait 30 minutes as the lines began to fill up. Second ride was "AWESOME". Had to compare to two ride photos and the results are in my avatar. There is alot of airtime no matter which end of the train you ride at.  Took the Grandkids to GG and then GE, the headed to the FM and the Train. They changed the robbery skit some but it was funny as always.  Tried to get my Grandson to ride TNT but he wouldn't. 3 year old Grandaugther wanted to but she is still to small. K[ds went to Brown's  for chocolate covered strawberries and we decided to leave about 4 PM because the wife was having  some health issues. Otherwise it was a great day at the City. Got to get back soon to make up for lost time.

Hope your wife's health issues weren't too serious.

I have a kid that isn't very pro coaster yet loves any and all waterslides, he prefers things that spin and go around in circles. The other kids loves coasters and is scared of water slides. One year and 3 months difference in age. Strange stuff. It's a bit of a problem. Come May, we have a wedding at Hot Springs to go to at the Chapel at Garavan Gardens . Plan was for the wife to go to the wedding with her sister an I take the kids to Magic Springs for the day, He's 10 and I feel uncertain leaving him alone even at the exit of the ride while sis and I get our coaster on but I guess he's going to have to start doing it or join the fun.

The weather has not been kind this year. Great days with lousy days. Friday and Sat of this week looks nearly perfect. I'll be there on Sat.

U Smell Smoke

I was there Thursday, March 28th and was told the crowd was 5,800.  Went back on Friday the 29th, did not hear a number but the crowd was very similar...maybe a tad less.  Although it did pick up a little in the afternoon when the weather cleared.
