Is that the old hotel on the hill there at Shepard Of the Hills and 65? Where the turn for Yakov is?

It is! One of the oldest/largest motel built at one time. Sorry to see it go but it had to go, was in bad shape.

Junior

I stayed at the old Branson Inn in 1977 on vacation, and again for several weeks in 1978 while my parents began working in town and prior to them finding a suitable rental house for us. I swam in that old pool many, many times. I remember the going rate for a room in 1978 was $35 per night, about five to ten more than some of the other chain motels at the time. But, it was among the best Branson had to offer at the time. In high school in '78 and '79, I remember they had a big seafood buffet in the restaurant on Friday nights, and our family ate there many times. I also would sneak in the restaurant about 1 or 2pm in the afternoon after the lunch crowd cleared out in '78 when we were living there, and having a cheeseburger, steak fries and a coke from time to time for about $3. It was a lot of food for the money, too! The restaurant also had a big framed map of SDC hanging on the wall from the 1960's. I asked the manager one time if he would sell it to me, and he said yes, for $35. At the time you could buy a big old map of SDC on park for a buck. $35 bucks was a lot of money back in those days, so I had to back off on that deal. At the time, SDC paid me $2.35 per hour! So, goodbye Branson Inn, and thanks for all the great childhood memories. I will miss you, but I'm sure the community will be glad to have the new medical clinic complex instead of an old, dilapidated hotel with frogs croaking in the old pool!
