no record breaking crowd today, a lot of people, but short on the record...

20,000 today, respectable... PTB should like that for an "off" weekend.. :)

last weekend only had a total of 23,000 on both days. :-\

We were there on Labor day Sunday and it was sparse for sure. But the rain was off and on all day till about 2 or so.

I am sure labor day weekend was a huge disappointment for PTB, with 12,000 on sat and 11,000 on sunday.. Not a very strong weekend, along with the previous week,,,,

tues,wed,thurs,friday-- only had a total of about 20,000.  and that took four days to get..!!!.

I would like ot know the number of cox employees/family members were there sat.., but with my friends at the city, no way to track that number.

It was oppressively hot on Labor Day weekend. Hottest of the year.

sanddunerider

It was hot last weekend, I was there sunday... bad, asphalt was so hot it even smelled funny!!!

HOT??  yea hot!! today the count is/was only around 4500 people!! :o :o :o,

Be interesting to see next weeks number with the fall festival starting up..

palallin

We're hoping to get down there a week or two either side of Oct 1.  I don't mind the heat so much--I wear wool in it, after all!--but these past few and next few weeks are Busy!

We were there Sunday on labor day weekend and the rain in the morning combined with the heat and humidity in the afternoon was a real killer I am sure. I also question the  decision to put the gospel music festival on the last big holiday of the summer. Seems to me they would want more emphasis on getting the families back one more time. I know we won't be going back on that weekend anymore because of lack of shows and entertainment we might like. But , maybe it draws a big crowd ?

sanddunerider

Runner, I wondered the same thing about that decision... (Gospel during Labor Day)?..

I know the Gospel Festival is a BIG draw, But I for sure think the Limited shows for the "general" public on labor day makes a difference..

With the rain sunday morning and lack of options, we were out of there by noon or so, it was already heating up..

I think for the Gospel fans they should extend the festival, but maybe the 3 weeks BEFORE labor day.. (just like they extended Bluegrass-BBQ)

I dont know how hard it would be to make a full schedule for Labor day, for the general puclic. But that may be the way to go.

I'm not sure how many were at the park on 9/7/13, but let me tell you - it was absolutely packed!  CoxHealth had an employee appreciation day.  They provided free tickets for all their employees plus their families.  I was told by a Cox employee that 24,000 free tickets were distributed.  The park stayed open until 10:00pm, but you had to have a blue wristband identifying you as a Cox employee in order to ride anything.

You have a great past ahead of you!

Outlaw run, sat the 7th, there were approx. 20,000 - 20,500 people there...  yes that would be quite a crowd. had not heard they stayed open late..

Not sure I agree that only cox people could stay and ride? after all, the rest of the people also paid for their tickets and put up with the crowd all day too>>????

tinman, if there were 24,800........  wouldn't that be a all time high? can you verify that?.

My sis and brother in law were there, said it was BUSY!, but they enjoyed it.. had not been there for close to 15 years~!~~

It is not really that unusual in the theme park industry for special events and something called a park buyout to happen. I was at one in the Magic Kingdom one time. The park never advertised extra hours, but after 10 p.m. The attractions were closed to everyone except those with a wristband. I only saw 1 upset person who threw quite a fit when she could not enter splash mountain.

Not close to an all time high...the count was 12,000 by 11am, the rest came in between then & 7pm...
