Just wanted to thank all the teachers who visit this site for your hard work and dedication. I'm proud to say my oldest daughter, after two years of substitute teaching in several NW Arkansas school districts, was hired this year and begins her first full time job in a couple weeks. Teachers are often not thanked for their hard work and dedication. I still fondly remember several teachers I had coming up, and hope they are now enjoying retirement from all of the crazy kids of my generation.
"Howdy there folks! My name is Junior Dugan, and I'll be drivin' your diving bell!"

Good luck to her.

Been in Band Camp all this week... we have teacher meetings starting Thursday next week.  School starts the following week.

Son starts in a week (year round schedule) and my little girl goes off to middle school couple of weeks after. I'm ready for the wife to go back to work.

My sister got my niece registered for kindergarten today. Man, I can't believe how the years have flown! I'm moving in with them this weekend, and it's gonna be weird when school starts and Tehya won't be there during the day.

PS: Chittlins -- perfect reaction pic!

I've been up at the school for a few hours every day this week. We start back Tuesday. I figure better for me to go on my own schedule this week and get things set up than to be working before and after school and on weekends to get it done on a deadline.

I don't actually start teaching and my daughters (senior in high school and an 8th grader) don't start school until two weeks from today. Almost two weeks of inservice for me... sigh.

Yep.  This is a new and much larger school district for me.
Very excited about being back in central MO.

We went back yesterday with meetings, kids start back wed, or thurs this coming week. I had staff ID's taken for my 10th year at this school...crazy thinking I have been employed there for a decade...I have done plenty of goofy things with my ID/ Yearbook photo...Mohawk , full beard another, handlebar mustache...+6 normal photos, now this year...I went off of the deep end, I am a history teacher now, and ...well...I will post my ID when I get it, but lets just say that the South has risen again.

We start extremely early due to a fall break for a week, and a 2 week spring break.

Should be an exciting year for many reasons here in the suburbs of St. Louis!

History Buff

First meeting, this afternoon.
Welcome new teachers, next Wednesday.
Open House the following Tuesday.
First day, the following Thursday.

And due to remodels and redecorating, our school currently looks worse than it did following the tornado.  I don't know how this is going to work.  My 24th year is no less stressful than any other, but I still hope to love my job for eight more years.

We have a little while yet.  I still have a week before inservice starts.  I've been to my classroom twice, and I hope to go in a couple of times this week.  My oldest is a sophomore this year, and my youngest is beginning pre-school.  Time just goes by too fast.

I remember as a kid, on the first day of school my mother would always barge into my room first thing in the morning, and sing "School days, school days. All the golden rule days. Reading, and writing, and arithmetic, and all the things that make you sick!" Haha.

Have a great year teachers, and students alike! ;D

I always sing "Back to School, Back to School" from Billy Madison on the first day of school
