I've never been to Branson but my gf has and SDC is her favorite place. Her grandparents go to branson every year for the month of October and they believe this may be her grandpa's last time going so she really wanted to go, as she hasn't been able to go the last few years. I figured now would be a great time to propose but the problem is that I know nothing about Branson or SDC.

Any ideas you guys have, or suggestions of places that I may be able to do it would be appreciated.

She told me about a train ride where you get robbed and there is a shoot out or something. I was thinking I could somehow incorporate it into that, do you think the staff would be willing to help?

Any other ideas would be great!

Thanks in advance.

If I were you and wanted to do it on the park property and publicly, you might want to contact guest services and they could tell you wether it is possible or not. They might even help you set it up.

I agree with contacting the park, but I have a feeling they would be willing to help out.
* The train robbery could be very fun!
* There is also a beautiful carousel on the park that has both horses (and other animals) as well as "wagon"-type double bench seats that could be a pretty place to propose -- although it is less public if you were wanting to do it in front of the grandparents. (But if you could get the park's help you might be able to have the grandparents seated in the wagon and you two on the horses in front?)

* There is a waterfall on the park, behind the Lumbercamp (a restaurant). Also very pretty.

* The Culinary and Craft School on the park has a wrap-around porch with rocking chairs and a gorgeous view of the surrounding area.

* The church on the park is also pretty, and would be a quiet and private place (as well as having seating for your grandparents).

You might also get your girlfriend talking about her memories of the park as a child--her favorite places and such. That might give you an idea of a place in the park that is especially special to her. (For example, I have some pictures of myself as a baby with my grandparents on the carousel, which would make that moment extra-special for me.)

If I think of anything I'll be sure to post it. Best of luck to you!!

Call the park ASAP!  I'm sure they help with engagements often and they'll help you out.  They did a great job with my sister's wedding and I'm sure they'll do a great job with a proposal.

If the stunt show is still going on, you could work it out with the performers.  At the beginning, townsfolk are walking in front of the Echo Hollow stage.  The mayor could be the one to get things started by calling on a volunteer from the audience - you.  Then the Sons of the Silver Dollar could sing a special song for you.  Or tell them you have to use the restroom.  Tell them to go ahead and find the seats.  Then show up on stage as one of the stunt actors...

There is a place in the GAC show (evening show) where they pull a guy from the audience to learn how to dance.  You could arrange for you to be the guy...

There is always the gazebo in the main area.

Or how about getting special permission to go out on the balcony of the "hotel" - then yell the proposal down to her kinda like a Romeo and Juliet thing.

How about at the Homestead with the Pickers?  They would be a great asset to a proposal!

I don't really have any suggestions, but my proposal and wedding happened at SDC, so it is a really special place for us, and I know it will be for you, too!

My proposal was on a bench near the enormous Christmas tree.  The square was nearly deserted at the time, so few people, if any, knew a proposal had even taken place.  But there won't be a Christmas tree there when you are there, so that's why I said I really didn't have a suggestion.

We were married in the Wilderness Church the following October with about 50 friends and family members in attendance.  It was perfect!  We actually made a weekend of it, and had a great time making memories with everyone.  Now, every time we come to SDC together, my husband and I take a stroll through the church and think of our wedding, so having special moments at SDC is a wonderful thing, and I wish you the best!

On a side note, we spent the evening after our wedding at Celebration City with our closest friends.  My dinner that night was a pretzel and cheese!  Dang it, I miss that place.

The train robbery idea would be awesome! Maybe I'll drop some hints for myself...  ;)

I proposed this past June on our family boat in the middle of Table Rock Lake at Sunset.  It went well  ;D. There are so many possibilities at SDC and in Branson overall.  I agree you got to get her talking about what she likes and her memories and then if you have questions about something she says ask us on the forum and we can explain it.
Small wonder our lives have so little of God in them, when we come in touch with so little that God has made.

I proposed to my wife by the creek that runs down to the knife maker shop. ;D

Well....I didn't get proposed to at SDC, but we spent our honeymoon there.  We were married by the statues at Shepherd of the Hills.  The hubs says he is going to buy one of those statues if they go to auction, and if not...he's going to steal one!  LOL!  ;D  I asked him why we couldn't just settle for the photos we have!  Nope, he wants one!

^I didn't think you could be married by a statue.  Don't you have to be married by a certified minister or justice of the peace?
