My daughter just tried to get frozen lemonade in our 2013 OR refill mugs and was DENIED!  She was told that they are EXPIRED!!!  They were told again when they tried to get root beer floats instead.  I was under the impression that they could always be refilled, but it would be at current refill price, instead of the 2013 price.   What is going???

STEPHEN D

Now we are being told they will only refill them with water.

History Buff

In the last couple of years, the mugs have been for the current season only.  That

I've had no problems getting older mugs refilled at the prices that are printed on the mugs.  Some may not have prices printed on them, so those might be the ones that are refilled at the current refill rates.

The current refill mugs at $12 or $13 is craziness!!! >:( :o : >:(

We have used them several times this season with no issues.  Why the sudden crackdown?   ???

I may depend on the vendor and how closely they monitor it.  I suspect they've cracked down to...make more money.

The way you get around it (if you want to) is to eat at the restaurants where you fill up your own mug (like Ribhouse).  Leave the mug in your bag and tell them you need a refill.  Do not get it out until it is time to get your drink.  They'll just charge you for the refill, you pay and on you go.

other option is watch garage sales and knick kniack stores in the area for 2012 and older mugs....

I bought 6 off of EBAy this spring, to make sure I had plenty of mugs no matter who was with us... I some the other day for 12 or 13 a piece.. CHEAP!!  I have seen them bring 18-25 a piece..

I have a ton of mugs from the past so I'll never have to worry about it, but I was sitting here and was thinking "oh yeah, I never show my mug when I'm buying a refill at Rib House - light bulb:

I was told that my 2013 mugs were no good earlier this when I went brought them and ate lunch at the Ribhouse one day. Since then I've been bringing in my own bottles of water and not buying drinks there. I think its a total ripoff because my family has been using the same mugs since 1993, only buying again every few years, and now they're not honoring refills.

Again, they will refill valid mugs.  The last two years have only been valid during the current season.  I know the signage explains this at the point of sale.

You can get refills of water at any time, anywhere in the city for free.....

Any mug pre 2012 is still refillable, costs vary depending on mugs..

Definitely saw the restriction posted on the menu signs last year at the various points of sale. I think the restriction is also printed on the mug.

I read that as they would be refilled at current refill prices, not 2013 pricing.  I always enjoy seeing all the different mugs that people are using.  Why phase out this tradition?

@ Stephen...  answer to your question....  MORE revenue!

By limiting mugs to refills only for the current year, you have to buy mugs every year....SO if people are "new" to the city and return every year...... they keep buying,,,,,,, thus more revenue ...

OF COURSE our group here is the exception, we all have been going to the city for years and "most" of us have mugs from years past. Which for the time being, they are still refilling at the cost printed on the mug...
