World's tallest water ride? ehhh....

Can you say "New at Knott's Berry Farm in 2001"?

It seems kind of gimmicky to me...being basically just an overgrown Shoot-the-Chutes.  The only thing interesting about it is the double elevator lifts.

I wouldn't have expected something like this from Holiday World, considering they refuse to even add a looping coaster.

^I tend to agree with you.  The only thing interesting is the open-air elevator.  Other than that, a lot like Perilous Plunge at Knott's Berry Farm.  In fact I'd prefer Perilous Plunge.  Why?  Pilgrims Plunge:  131 feet, 45 degree angle drop      Perilous Plunge:  121 feet, 75 degree angle drop.  The latter sounds a lot more exciting to me! :)

It's interesting enough, though it is a bit gimmicky. The lift just makes the whole thing look a bit freakish, but what I really care about is the fact that the lift and drop are the only parts of the ride. It's good marketing to have the world's tallest water ride, but I'd prefer something that was shorter and longer, with good theming. White Lightning at Bell's was a great example - it went through a mountain and negotiated a lot of turns and twists before ever hitting a big drop.

yeah but when has Holiday World ever really done anything with theme except with the name?  (Turkey Twirl and Gobbler Getaway are your exceptions)

Also FWIW, PP might be on its way out soon if rumors are true.

^Yeah, with all of the operational and restraint system problems that PP has had (not to mention the uptime and low attendance for the ride) I'm not surprised it's under watchful eyes right now.  It makes me wonder if Pilgrims Plunge might have the same type of fate (especially with the open-air elevator).

Up, down and done.  I imagine the lift is more exciting than the drop.  And the restraint would have to keep people from slipping out.  That's something about log flumes that makes them special - no restraint.

Plus, a name alone does not fit a ride into a theme.  I wonder what the queue is like - something about people escaping from religious persecution to seek freedom of religion in a new land?

The fact that it is the tallest, will be enough to draw in people from around the US. I DROVE to New Jersey just for Kingda Ka, and I wouldn't be suprised if alot of other people will be attracted to it too.
Pilgrim's Plunge: Bad Name, Bad Park Section.
If they could fit it into the 4th of July Section, that might be slightly better. They could call it "Eagle Splash" or something, and paint the supports and boats red, white and blue. Still wouldn't quite fit, but that would be better than trying to theme it to Thanksgiving!

Swoosh

...yeah cause "Eagle Splash" is so much better of a name than Pilgrims Plunge  ::)

I wanted them to call it the Gravy Boat, but that's just me  ;)

I'm looking at concept art and this ride looks boring.  Looks like you leave the station, travel for a short distance along a featureless stream, go up the elevator, come down, then travel along another short featureless stream back to the station.  I'm guessing most of the 2 minutes and 40 seconds of the ride is spent on the elevator.  Are they going to theme any of the stream at all?

Disney is quite the opposite. Splash Mountain has so much theming with multiple drops, and dark ride portions.
Am I the only one that thinks PowderKeg is the best coaster at SDC?
