I saw where pumpkin nights is expanding again...I wonder if they'll continue around lake silver and head out to Wilson's farm? or head up Valley Road? Maybe they can just add some more pumpkins on the trail....I didn't think the trail was that impressive last year...

Jay

More than likely the pumpkin tree that was supposed to be in Lake Silver the first year will finally appear.

my son LOVED chuggington.....he's 14 now..lol.  We had all the toys we could find 10 years ago and the cartoon is 300% better than Thomas and I kinda enjoyed it too.  As a 43yo I'm a bit excited to see what they do....lol

I was looking at SDC job openings today and noticed that they have an opening for a food service position at fried fancies.

I'm assuming from that post that they will have Flossie's rebuilt and open this year.

Anyone seen anything else or heard recent rumors on rebuilding from the fire?

Swoosh

Apparently nothing major is going to be built right now where the furniture store, pork rinds and Flossie's was located.  Sounds like there's an extended road next to duplicating lathe and that's about it.  Maybe something will come eventually. I guess we'll see

I imagine it'll take them a bit to decide what they want to do, not to mention getting the insurance and such cleared. Probably take until at least next off season to have plans ready, assuming they move quick.

Did you hear if the lathe is coming back this year?

Betting whatever comes will come with the FITH demo and whatever happens afterward with that general area of the park. They will probably rebuild/repurpose both areas at the same time considering their proximity. Heck if the train station thing doesn't happen they might rebuild everything on the FITH site.

Finding myself really disappointed about HHF likely being gone for good. Always enjoyed watching demonstrations at the wood shop. Was sort of a tradition to at least stop by every visit to the park.

^I seem to recall some mention of it making a come back. Could be wishful thinking. Again though, it's bound to take some time to rebuild and the area will need to be re-engineered a bit due to some odd grading and drainage going down the hill from AP.

The real question is if they can rebuild anything like what was there before with the antique factory equipment. My guess is no, but the park surprises us sometimes so who knows what they'll come up with eventually.

Any word on any improvements to Thunderation? It was really rough the last few years.

A lot of work was done on TNT last season. There is a picture posted on here somewhere that I cant find ATTM.

CAN they?  Of course, they CAN.  WILL they?  Probably not.

I think that it might be a good sign that they are taking the time to throughly plan out the rebuild vs throwing up some stuff quickly.

Swoosh

I cannot see them rebuilding the furniture store/factory.
For one thing, it eliminates higher paying jobs (resident artists)
It opens up valuable real estate on one of the busiest midways

Regarding the area destroyed by the fire ... I know this is one of the least important considerations -- but I really hope they rebuild the pork rinds booth, or at least, set up some kind of temporary station so that Dave can continue to fry up the best pork rinds in the county!  We almost always stop in and get a bag or two (or three) of the Cajun-flavored pork rinds.  Getting to visit with Dave, the guy who runs the stand, is always a pleasure, too.

^It would be logical to integrate it into the Fry Bread/Chicken Waffles facility for now. Its not like they were using it much for the past couple years from what I observed on my visits.
