The only good sequel to an animated movie that Disney has put out was Cinderella III: A Twist in Time. The first sequel felt like it could've been a TV movie, but the third was really quite original and I really liked it.

I am SOOOOO excited about Indiana Jones IV. I plan to be there at midnight in my official Lucasfilm-licensed Indiana Jones fedora. And that reminds me, even SDC is getting in on the Indy action; they had a whole rack in the Hospitality House full of baseball caps and fedora-type hats that were licensed Indy merchandise.

^Haha.

I am also excited for Indiana Jones IV. I'm excited to see how it turns out. I know Shia Labeouf (sp?) is in it but what role is he playing? (I'm too busy to look it up at the moment)

Well, he plays a character named "Mutt" (not sure what the character's real name is supposed to be). He's basically kind of a sidekick for Indy, but more than what Short Round was. That's all I know for sure.

I am excited about Indiana Jones IV, but sequels like Night at the Museum 2 and Hellboy 2 are completely unnecessary.  And another Hulk film?  Come on!  As for Shia Labeouf's role, remember the plot and characters are under double lock and key!  No one not affiliated with the project really knows what character (other than his name) he portrays yet (those who do are under penalty of death if they talk  ;)).

I think if you can bring back the same characters with the same personality and as good of a plot for the first, you can make a successful sequel. If you have to put in a lot of new characters (or have all new characters) it won't do as good.

I think this is where a lot of sequels fall short.  They bring back the same characters, but also a very similar plot to the first film, so when you go see it you feel like you've basically just seen the first movie twice!  They seem to think that a plot as good as the first film means it basically has to be the same plot but in a different setting from the first film.

^I didn't even know Night at the Museum was getting a sequel. I loved the first one.

Last night I went to see The Chronicles of Narnia with three of my friends. It was extremely well done!! There are a lot more fight/battle scenes and it was very well directed. I can't decide if I like the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe better though. I thought in the first one they showed us more of the characters but the second was more of an action film which I like. Edmund has a very reduced role in the movie.

My Grade: A

Next week I am going to go to the midnight show of Indiana Jones IV. It will be a good way to kick off the summer seeing as Wednesday is when school gets out.

I will be seeing "Prince Caspian" some time soon.  I also plan to see "Indiana Jones IV", but I'm really looking forward to "Wall-E"!  :D  I can't help it, I love Pixar movies!

"Indiana Jones IV" has a lot of pressure to be a great movie, there's so much hype!  It'll be interesting to see how it holds up to the hype.

Yeah I saw a preview for Wall-E. My friends laughed at me when I told them I wanted to see it though, lol. I don't know. I probably won't end up watching it.

All of the Indiana Jones movies have been on TV a lot lately. I just hope this one is as well done. It will be weird seeing an action hero with gray hair I'll admit. I hope they don't ruin the first three!!

I just saw Prince Caspian last night and thought it was pretty good, though it lacks the charm of the first in the series. There were a lot of weird religious allusions as well, seemed to have made a lot more sense in the books than they did in the movie.

I don't think I'll be seeing too many other movies this year though unless I can catch them at a discount theater. The only major theater near me now charges $8 a pop, and I can't subjugate myself to those prices just to sit in a chair and watch a big TV for a couple of hours. Maybe I will for Wall-E, but I don't know if I can sit through the preview for that chihuahua movie again.

$8 is how much it costs at my theater as well. Recently I saw Made of Honor, Prince Caspian, and I'll be going to Indiana Jones IV. After that, I'd say I'll have awhile before I see another movie in the theaters seeing as I have a busy summer planned and it is pretty expensive. I haven't bought any concessions at the movies though as an effort to save money.

What was the chihuahua movie though?

^It's "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" with Drew Barrymore, Salma Hayek, and Jamie Lee Curtis.  Basically, a Beverly Hills chihuahua gets lost while on vacation in Mexico and needs help finding the way home.  The chihuahuas talk.  It'll be out September 26.  I have, thankfully, not been subjected to a preview yet.  I'd better brace myself for one if I'm going to see any movies this summer, though.

That sounds incredibly stupid. I'm glad I missed that preview.

I saw "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" Monday.  I must say I loved it!  It was fun and had great action set pieces and a lot of humor (one of my favorite aspects of the Indy films).  Harrison Ford really showed up (lately it seems he's "phoned in" most of his performances).  It seemed his heart was really in this.  I know reviews are decidedly mixed.  I feel it's unfair to compare this one to the first three.  IMO, it's all about perspective.  If this one had come first then people would probably say that "Last Crusade" just couldn't measure up, for example.  I felt the plot was engaging and the performances were really good.  Has anyone else seen it?  If so, what are your thoughts?

Coaster

^I saw it on Friday. I don't really know what to think of it to tell you the truth. I do agree Harrison Ford gave a stellar performance. Shia as Mutt was all right. I liked how they brought back Marion. The worst part of the movie was the whole plot. Crystal Skulls? Come on, they could've done better. And I didn't really like the ending of the plot (not the movie, I liked how the movie ended but I won't say because I don't want to ruin anything for the rest who haven't seen it). The whole alien thing, meh, it wasn't for me. Cate Blanchett was very good in her role. The movie also started out kind of slow. It was all right. I know it can't really be compared to the first three but when you do compare them, it is definitely not the best.

^I liked the plot, but I think it's because I came with some reservations.  I knew that the script had gone through many, many drafts by several writers, so I knew it would be patched together, so to speak.  So I wasn't expecting a story that would blow my mind.  IMO, it was a good plot considering all of the drafts and ideas that were put into it.
