With GPS-enabled cameras and modern stitching software, it will soon be possible to spin around and take multiple photos, move a hundred yards and repeat, and create accurate models of everything.

Sounds a lot like Google's Street View. :)

IDK if this was posted anywhere, but Fire Cheef Jess told me recently that "Buckets" the 10-year old dalmation that has been a fixture on Saturdays at FITH for 10 years now has been diagnosed with a unoperable tumor that will eventually be terminal.  She has her up and down days, but will not be making as many appearances anymore, and when she does it will only be for a few hours.  This saddens me as I remember her as a pup.

Awww... That sucks. Poor doggy. :(

Well, as of Saturday, I'll be living in Springfield. Unfortunately, I don't have a car (still don't have my driver's license yet, in fact), so I'm stuck with the Springfield public bus and my own two feet. So, I'm not sure if I'll be making it to SDC as much as I'd hoped. I'm gonna try to convince my friends to come down to see me during Moonlight Madness so we can all go together.

I'll be attending the US opener in Chicago's Soldier Field for U2's 360 Tour in September.  The tour kicks off June 30 in Barcelona, Spain and I have been following the construction of the stage set pretty closely.  A picture will speak louder than words, so here you go :):

Nicknamed "The Claw", the stage is 164 feet high, doubling the size of the previous largest stage for a stadium show (for the Rolling Stones' A Bigger Bang tour, whose stage would fit under the legs of "The Claw" very nicely).  The people in the lower left-hand corner provide some perspective as to how massive this stage set is!  The spire moves up and down and rotates and has lights attached to it.  Not yet attached is a 360 degree circular video screen, which will be suspended from the "ceiling" of "The Claw".  Also missing is the stage itself and the speakers etc. are in the process of being raised and attached on each side of "The Claw".  Each speaker set (four in total, one on each side) will produce enough sound for an indoor arena concert!  Pretty incredible, huh?  I can't wait for September! ;D

So... how's about this weather? I think lightning musta hit KY3's tower, cause there was a hit and suddenly the signal is gone.

How are things in Branson, for those of you down there? Hiding out in your basements? That storm with the tornado warning attached looks pretty intense.

^^That is the biggest stage I've ever seen. That would be fun.

So we (wife and I) went to Freestyle Music Park today in Myrtle Beach and we couldn't help thinking to ourselves that the theme of this park would be PERFECT for Celebration City.  Different sections of the park are themed to different types of music - Rock, Country, Pop, British Invasion - the rides all have on board audio systems (including the coasters).  It was so much fun and would be PERFECT for the live entertainment capital of the world.

I just think that a broad theme such as this (music) would be much easier to theme a park after instead of another "time era" like they tried with Celebration City.  Yes you have the 1880s at SDC, that doesn't mean you have to keep yourself within your "comfort zone" and do another one just more "modern" in the time you are portraying.

Seriously this would really work if they'd try it and do the theme justice.

History Buff

^Yes, but to remain in theme as the "live music capital", I want to see live bands on the rides.  Sure they would take up some of the seating on the ride, and the spinning and restraints may limit their ability to play well, but who wouldn't want to see that!

#458
The Big 12 football preseason poll is out...and Mizzou is picked 3rd in the North behind #1. Nebraska and #2. KU. :(  Let the bickering begin! ;D

2009 Big 12 Football Media Preseason Poll
North Division
1. Nebraska (17)....172
2. Kansas (12)....... 164
3. Missouri (3)...... 124
4. Colorado.......... 100
5. Kansas State...... 81
6. Iowa State.......... 33

South Division
1. Texas (17)........... 174
1. Oklahoma (15).... 174
3. Oklahoma State.. 130
4. Texas Tech.........   89
5. Baylor.................   75
6. Texas A&M ........   33

First-place votes in parentheses. Voting done by media members who cover the conference.

I swear Mizzou never gets respect.
Granted they graduated a lot of people after last season, but still.

I think the South is incorrect as well -- I really think OSU will be the team to beat this season

^I wouldn't feel so bad about being picked 3rd if the point totals were close but, looking at the point totals, we're a distant third.  Of 32 first place votes we only got 3? ???

Swoosh

Nebraska will ALWAYS get the "tradition" vote no matter what and considering they finally made it to a bowl game and won makes the media automatically think that the Huskers are "back" -- thing is, they lost their QB and some key players

kansas went to two bowl games in a row and in the mean time hell froze over.  Like it or not Tiger fans kWHO does have a decent football team.  Do I think they are better than Mizzou -- NOT F**KING WAY.  Hollywood's Senior year is this year, and I fully expect them to fall from grace after this season.

OU lost their entire starting O-line.  Bradford better lace up his dancing shoes otherwise he will be on his ass most of the season -- how fitting for the Heisman winner to fall from grace.

UT still has Colt McCoy, but has a more challenging season this year as they have to go the 'Zou and Stillwater.  They have TECH at home, which will make that game a tad easier for them then last year at Lubbock.

I still say is the team to watch is O-State as they really did not lose anyone,

I think there's more parity in the North than there was last year.  Should make things interesting.  As we saw last year with Mizzou, anything can happen.  Were we overrated?  Probably.  But I did not expect Chase Daniel to fall back to Earth the way he did the second half of the season.  That took me by surprise.  I do agree that Oklahoma State is being overlooked, at least in the preseason poll.

As a lifelong Razorbacks fan, I empathize.

If not this year, then '10, when Nate Sorensen gets there ('11 if he's redshirted). He's already signed, but still has a year to go as QB at Texas High (Texarkana).

As the MLB postseason is fast approaching I got to thinking about what my "worst nightmare" World Series match-up would be...brace yourself.  Cubs vs. Yankees!! :o

Who would I root for?  Would my dislike of the Cubs be stronger than my dislike of the Yankees?  Honestly, I don't know.  I think it would depend on my mood, time of day, day of week, etc. :)

What about you?  What's your "worst nightmare" World Series match-up?
