^I didn't know they had more than one writer doing it. Next time I watch it (which will probably be when it comes out on DVD) I'm going to watch it with more of an open mind and not compare it to the first three movies whatsoever.

^Jeb Stuart wrote two drafts in 1995, which contained plot elements that are still featured in the movie.  Others who contributed drafts:  Jeffrey Boam, M. Night Shyamalan, Frank Darabont, and Jeff Nathanson.  Finally David Koepp (the only credited screenwriter for the film) meshed all of these drafts together into one screenplay, after 12 years(!) of rejected drafts!

Well everyone kept saying that they wouldn't make another Indiana Jones if the script wasn't right. I don't know I just wasn't sold on the whole thing.

My computer got a virus. I've been working on trying to fix it for the past two days but my computer is pretty old and nothing is working. I'm going to be getting a new computer soon though (I hope). I am using a different computer to type this by the way.

We are going to Pennsylvania here pretty quick. We are going to be at Hersheypark and we'll be near Gettysburg on July 4th. I think it'll be pretty fun. Then we'll be down in Tennessee for a week (no Dollywood). Needless to say, I might not be on here very much unless I can get a new laptop and hook up to the internet in our hotel. Just keeping you all updated...

^Enjoy your trip!  You should post some pics of Hersheypark when you get back! :)

Has anyone noticed that ABC Family's "Salute to America" is focused on a marathon of Harry Potter movies?  Isn't that strangely ironic?  To celebrate our independence from England, they're showing movies about British wizards.  It would be OK to show the movies, but to bill it as a salute to America?  Really?

Lol, yeah I saw that today and I also thought it was weird. They need to show more of an American or patriotic movie than Harry Potter...

Now that it's almost July 4th what are some of your favorite "patriotic" American movies? I can't think of many right now except for The Patriot.

^Here are a few: To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), The Great Escape (1963), All the President's Men (1976), The Music Man (1962), The Stars and Stripes Forever (1952), The Fighting Sullivans (1944), Johnny Tremain (1957), Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942), 1776 (1972), and Rocky (1975).  There just aren't many recent patriotic films other than Independence Day (1996) and, as you mentioned, The Patriot (2000).

And, just for kicks, if you're looking for a very anti-Vietnam War and anti-patriotic film, look no further than Born on the Fourth of July (1989).

^Ugh, To Kill a Mockingbird. Bad memories... ::) (Actually it wasn't that bad).

I'm just wondering did you have to look all that up or do you really know that much about movies sdcforever?

^I know a lot about movies, so I knew a little over half of those.  But I did have to look some of those up. ::)

I haven't seen some of the ones I listed, but I did want to give people some movies to choose from if they were looking for some ideas.

Anyone else see the new Rambo? Now there's a movie full of Americana.  ::)

Put that back to back with the Missing In Action series and there's your perfect fourth of July marathon.

History Buff

I haven't looked to see what TCM will be playing on the fourth.  That's usually the place to look.

I have to put my vote in for The Patriot.  At first, I thought it was just a movie made for the blood, but after further consideration I realized it was about a man who just wanted to be a dad, but who had to fight - it was about an ordinary man doing extraordinary things (a favorite theme of mine).  Mel did a good job with that one.

I think it would be good to throw in the Jack Ryan movies as well.  You know:  The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, A Clear and Present Danger, etc.  Rambo, Jack Ryan, and the Missing In Action series...there's a weekend dedicated to the ol' red, white, and blue! ;)
