Gotta go with Mizzou.  And I've gotta go with OU over Florida.  I think Florida is about the only team in the country that can hang with either OU or Texas.  Texas over OSU by a good margin. Matter of fact, it's very possible that the Big 12 goes undefeated in the bowl games.

You're right about the defense, Swoosh.  We've gotta have that to move up to the next level.

I agree with you about Chase.  He's been terrible for several games now.  I like Pinkel, but I wonder if Mizzou has reached its peak under him?  He needs to make some personnel changes with his assistants, but what's the motivation?  The administration has already given him a bonus and extension as a vote of confidence--basically telling Pinkel we like the direction the team is headed.  Clearly, though, the team needs to change directions and changes need to be made.  I personally think they should've waited to give him a bonus and extension until after the season, but that's just me.  I do like what Pinkel's done since he's been coach, but the money he's making calls for Mizzou to take the extra step and prove it's a perennial top ten team.  We've gotten lucky with teams like Kansas State and Nebraska regressing the past few years in the Big 12 North, but Nebraska is making a comeback.  We are losing so many talented players after this season (and I wonder if Maclin will stick around); Pinkel has a lot of hard work ahead to avoid a 7-5 season next year.  And 7-5 is what I expect unless he makes changes.

Swoosh

First off, this is not Pinkel's fault.  He felt that he had the best players that he had on the roster in those positions.  At the same time there is a trickle down effect.  The assistant coaches, especially on defense got way too comfortable with the offense always bailing them out every game.  That clearly was not the way to win ball games especially when you run into other high powered offenses.

Missouri had the 117 ranked pass defense in the NCAA.  If you did not know, that means Missouri is dead last.  However, the silver lining to that is the fact that the highest ranked pass defense in the Big XII was 98th and I think it was Colorado.

sdcforever, you mentioned that we are losing so many talented players after this season.  I say that is not the case.  We returned almost our entire defense and we saw that made no difference.  It was a SENIOR who blew his coverage and cost us the game against kU, and on Saturday the SENIORS were the ones that were constantly getting burnt on defense.  On Offense, we are losing Daniel and Coffmann for sure.  While we will miss Coffmann, we have a lot of talent in the wings waiting to come on stage.  We will miss Wolfert as well, but his head has not been on right here lately as he thinks he is cursed or something.  Daniel is a ticking time bomb and it is very obvious he can no longer get the job done.  Gabbert has proven that he can march his team down the field and we have an excellent recruiting class coming in.

Missouri next year
vs. Illinois (W)
vs. Bowling Green (W)
@ Nevada (W)
vs. Nebraska (W) -- they too are losing a lot after this season, but they still may win North
@ Oklahoma State (?) -- OSU is losing a lot of their key players, but this is in Stillwater
vs. Texas (L) -- even without Colt, Texas wins this one
@ Colorado (W) -- too much animosity on this team to win for now
vs. Baylor (W) -- I give Baylor two more years before they "break out"
@ K-State (W) -- It is going to take Snyder more than a year to "fix" this team
vs. Iowa State (W) -- this game is going to be closer than some think
vs. Kansas (?) -- could go either way

Gotta go with Florida over OU. Aside from the fact that I'm an SEC guy and I hate Oklahoma, I honestly think Tebow's passing game is going to destroy OU's defense.

^Certainly OU is not known for their outstanding defense. :)

IMO they really fumbled the ball with most of the BCS bowl games.  I have no problem with Florida/OU or Penn State/USC (Rose).  But, Cincinatti/Virginia Tech (Orange)?  A no. 12 vs. no. 19?  VT with four losses playing on New Year's Day.  No team with four losses should be playing on New Year's Day.  Utah/Alabama in the Sugar Bowl?  Nothing against Utah, but Texas and USC are ranked higher.  Finally the Fiesta Bowl pairing of Texas/Ohio State.  That'll be a blood bath.  Ohio State doesn't stand a chance.  And how exactly did Ohio State get in over undefeated Boise State?  This is not a good bowl season when the pairings are only 2 for 5.

It's all politics -- and who will bring in the most money for the bowl.
Who do you think will travel better?  Ohio State fans or Boise State fans.  The answer to that is rather "duh"

I'm not happy we got stuck with the Alamo Bowl, but at least Mizzou got one.

Who here is a college basketball fan?  I've been pleasantly surprised by Mizzou so far this year.  They had an impressive win against USC and played Xavier very tough in a loss.  They showed a lot of resolve last night against a tough Murray State team.  It'll be interesting to see how they fare against KU, Oklahoma, and Texas.

I would like to see Oklahoma vs. North Carolina myself.  I think it'd be a hard fight, but North Carolina would pull away in the end.  I thought Michigan State would play NC tough, but sheesh.  It was like NC was playing a DII school!

KU is really down this year -- as seen in their loss this weekend

Doesn't matter which side of Missouri you're from, you only have one response this year: "Thank you, Detroit!"

^I know.  :( Tough to be a Chiefs fan.

FIRE HERM EDWARDS!
"May there always be a Silver Dollar City..."

^I agree, Herm needs to go...badly.  He still refuses to acknowledge that the team is not on the right track, and thinks he's made progress.  I can't see the new GM retaining him; GMs like to bring in their own coaching staffs.  Come next year I think LJ will be gone, and sadly, so will Tony Gonzalez.  He wanted a trade in October and has just publicly stated that unless Tyler Thigpen remains the starting QB (I don't have a problem with that) and Herm is retained as head coach (I hope not!) he will be very unhappy.  I sincerely hope he's just toeing the company line, so to speak, and doesn't really want Herm back.  But if Herm's gone come next year and Tony starts to have "hissy fits" about it then he needs to go as well.

saladdays

I don't have a problem with Herm being back at all. Herm wanted to rebuild the team starting the first year but Carl wouldn't let him. He's been at odds with Carl his whole tenure, and I think he at least deserves a year without Carl at the helm. Of course, new GMs do like to get their own guys, but (purely speculation) I think Clark Hunt is willing to give him another year.

I don't know about you guys, but I fully expected the Chiefs to do pretty bad this year. They were a lot more competitive in games than I thought they would.
