^I still think it's fine if Herm stays a year, but they could do worse than going with Shanahan. Think what it's going to be like going into Denver if he becomes coach...

^^We have to fire Herm first.  ;D

I'm not so high on Shanny. I want someone like Frazier with the Vikings or maybe Haley with the Cardinals. As you said, Shanahan did all his winning with Elway and he would destroy our terrible defense.  ;D

^^^Mizzou pulled out that victory last night by the skin of their teeth! It was nerve wracking.

^True but it was still a win.... and a ROAD WIN at that... something that has been few and far  between in the Big XII this year.

^I think it's possible for MU to go 7-1 or 8-0 at home this year in the Big 12, so two or three good road wins are important.  In that respect, last night's win was HUGE.

I don't think they'll beat Baylor at Mizzou Arena.  Baylor is just too good this year.

Well, that rumor I heard appears to be coming true.  Herm was fired today and, for better or worse, sources say the Chiefs are close to a deal with Shanahan.  Perhaps worse, since Gonzalez he'd be unhappy if Herm wasn't the coach next year.

Coaster

ESPN is reporting that we are close to a deal with Shanahan. NFL Network is reporting that Shanahan will definitely NOT be the coach of the Chiefs. I don't know what to believe. I'd think Shanahan would want to come here but he'd want all the power.

BUT WHAT A GREAT DAY THIS IS!!! ;D

Well.....we've got about an inch of sleet and ice build up on our porch so far, and it's still coming down here in Branson, pretty heavy actually.  The City is closed today so I have an unexpected day off.  Yea!!!  The streets look really bad and I haven't seen anybody out on them so far.  That in itself is surprising.

Anyway...who's gonna join me in picking the Cardinals in the Super Bowl.  The line right now is Pittsburg by 7, but I think Warner and the Cards can pull off the upset.  Hope so anyway.  I've been a fan of the Cardinals since the days of Jim Hart, Terry Metcalf, and Mel Gray.  And I'm a big big fan of Kurt Warner.  The Rams gave him a bum deal- still sore about that.  They couldn't field an offensive line that could protect him, so..., get rid of him instead?  But, he's with a better team now so I guess the Lord worked it out for him.

GO CARDINALS!!!!!

I usually root for the underdog if I don't have any dog in the race. So go Cardinals!

Hey, Zeph!  What kind of stuff do you do during the off-season anyway (when you don't have a "snow day", that is)?

I continue to work in the Entertainment Tech department, one of the fortunate few who are retained for winter time.  We do routine and sometimes not so routine maintenance work in the venues.  The first thing we did was to go around to all the venues, cleaning and buttoning them down for the off season.  Some years we repaint all the dressing rooms, bathrooms, etc.  Right now, two of us are busy taking down all the lighting fixtures in the Opera House and cleaning them.  Another crew is tearing up the stage decking down in EH for replacement, and also a few changes will be made to the set structure.  There is going to be a bird show down there during the daytime next fall, so accommodations are being made for that.  Then another couple of guys dig into all the sound gear, cleaning and repairing as needed.  Sometime around the end of Feb., our crew will expand with more returnees, and we will strike the Dickens set.  As the park opening nears, more techies will come back and start getting venues ready, reinstalling equipment, painting stages, etc.  We stay pretty busy, and it's not often that everything that needs or should be done gets done.

Just found out that the park is closed tomorrow also.  Double yea!!  The freezing rain and sleet is still coming down, expected to change to snow later on.
