The ice storm hit us hard, but there was no major damage at the City.  Mostly just twigs and small limbs.  Work at the park was canceled Tuesday and Wednesday, but I didn't go in on Thursday either.  So here are some pictures of the park on Friday, 1/30/09.  Some melting occurred on Thursday but as you will see, the park was still pretty covered with ice.

I've seen it worse, as far as snow cover, but still, I just love the City when it's basking in a layer of white.

Wow! Thanks for the pictures. I live in far southern Missouri and we were hit very hard but it still could have been worse. Seeing those pictures make me want to go walk around when no one is there! That park is just beautiful. Thanks again!

I'd love to walk around the park in conditions like that. :)

It is something of a rarity, but I have been in Branson during such a time.  We stayed a night at the Wilderness Campground (formerly the Silver Dollar City Campground) in the original cabin (before the cabin metropolis they have now).  When we awakened, we were greeted with a terrific snow.  The City was ravishing in its new white gown.

I would like to go sledding down that log ride chute!

Man it is tough seeing the place and knowing that we still have a month or two until we can go back! I am extremely jealous! :P Great Pictures

Thanks everyone, my pleasure.  And indeed it was.  I love the park in the winter time.  So peaceful and quiet.  Oh, at times you hear the sounds of construction, etc., but generally it's pretty calm.  And the park needs that...time without the noise of the crowds.  Time to regenerate.

That's exactly what I was thinking.  ;D

This is so trippy!  Thanks Zephon.  I would imagine that Hill Street would be lots of fun!

Going sledding at SDC would be a dream come true!! Hey...SDC has been suffering lately. Sled rides at a minimal cost anyone?  ::)

On a serious note, thanks for the pics Zephon!

Sledding down Hill Street sounds like a lot of fun....if you like laying your life on the line.  I like my sledding in the wide open spaces where there's nothing to run into.

Walking in to work today from the parking lot, I slipped and nearly fell three times between the roundhouse and the Opera House.  There was still ice on the road and it was really slick.  They cleared most of it by the time I got off, but behind the FITH and the Opera House will be treacherous again tomorrow morning.
