Suffice to say, the Cardinals are in a coma.  I don't know how long we can tread water like this.  They're looking for help...DeRosa or Holliday are being talked about alot.  But still, one person will not make much of a difference unless we start getting the timely hitting and more robust pitching.

A new player isn't going to magically make everything better. The team needs to start doing better for a new player to help them. Too bad we can't have the hitting in April with the pitching now.

Doesn't Carp pitch tonight?

I just don't understand how a team can ALL go cold at the same time.
The blame has to fall on the batting coach.

Batting coach, manager, and front office.  It's almost like they're playing with a sense of defeatism, resigned to losing.  Heads are not in the game... stupid mistakes in the field and on the base paths, taking pitches right down the middle, really floundering at the plate.  Heck, they proved they can be a winning team in April.  It really is bewildering to see our club in a funk like this.

Who would've thought that we'd score three runs in an inning for only the fourth time in 228 innings and get a 3-0 lead, only to have Carp blow the lead?  And then Motte gives up the walk-off for our fifth straight loss.  We've found a new low and a new way to lose.  We're hitting .231 since May 1, and haven't won in a month when giving up more than 2 runs.  I don't think firing McRae will solve anything.  Remember, this is the same hitting coach we had in April.  It's not like he suddenly forgot how to coach once May rolled around.  He's spending extra hours working with them in various situations, but he's not with them when they come up to bat in games.  He's not telling them when to swing and when to hold off during their at-bats in a game.  At some point the blame has to fall on the players not performing in game situations.  In my opinion, the blame falls on the players.  I also think it was a mistake not giving players like Ankiel and Ludwick some minor league rehab stints to get their swings back.  And that blame does fall on management.

I'm ticked that Lohse told everyone he was fine to pitch, when he wasn't.  Now he's out 4 weeks with a strain.  Ankiel did the same thing when he was coming back, telling everyone he was fine to play when he wasn't.  Luckily he only missed a few extra games.

Wow, talk about busting out! ;D  Not only do we have a 3 run first but also a 4 run eighth; we've scored in five different innings for a 10-4 lead so far in the bottom of the eighth.  Nearly everyone in the lineup has at least one hit.  This feels good! 8)

EDIT:  I posted too soon!  A 3 run ninth for a 13-4 win with 18 total hits, 0 strikeouts, and 0 errors!

Hopefully they didn't waste all their runs on one night!  ;)

Wow, the Rockies are doing the same thing to the Brewers that they did to us. We've moved up to a half game back.

Isn't it refreshing to see them score some runs, get some hits, hit some HR's?

It definitely is.  Good to see AP red hot right now, too.  Read an article where he said he's been dealing with the flu for over a week.  A bad case too.  Runny nose, head congestion, dehydration, and inability to sleep.  He's still hoarse.  He played through it, though, which explains his mini-slump; he lost some power because of it and didn't have the legs to drive the ball.  He's recovering.  I don't think I could play through it. :)

Pretty decent game tonight.  The guys seem to be hitting the ball with a little more authority lately (with the exception of that last Cleveland game).  I think...I hope, they're starting to turn the corner.  Man, AP crushed the ball tonight on a line drive up into Big Mac land (5 HR's in last 5 games).

^Yeah, that was a fun game to watch!  They said AP's home run went over 446 feet, one of the 10 longest in new Busch history! :o

When Duncan went back-to-back with AP with a 418 foot home run of his own it was the first time two Cards had gone back-to-back since AP and Luddy did it last season!

Holy cow! I thought a thunderstorm had just developed right over me! I didn't realize until just now checking Google Maps that the stadium is just a couple blocks behind me..... Pretty fireworks... :D

^Wait a minute.  Last night's game was in KC, so I assume that's where you live.  The Royals lost to the Cardinals last night...and they still shot off fireworks?

Anyway... two good wins for the good guys.  Last night was a blowout.  Tonight, another HR for Albert, but things got pretty sticky there in the bottom of the 8th.  But Franklin limited the damage, and we got a bunch of insurance runs in our part of the 9th.

AND NOW WE'RE BACK IN 1st PLACE.  GO CARDINALS!!!

^Any home Royals baseball game on a Friday night is "FIREWORK FRIDAYS" sponsored by HyVee -- they've been doing this the last 5 years or so.

Sort of like Tuesday ball games are "T-Shirt Tuesdays"
