I bet tails are draggin' in the Astros locker room tonight. Down 13-0 after three innings?  :o

A little bit of a rebound lately.  Pitching has stepped it up a bit, and our hitting is starting to come around.  How bout that Albert?  And it looks like Luddy has found his stroke.  Things are looking up for the Cards.  Big series against Chicago...took the first game, now a couple more would be fantastic going into the AS break.  Congrats to Pujols, Molina, and Franklin for making the All Star lineup.

We are playing a lot better lately.  I thought Duncan was bad in LF, but then I saw Soriano yesterday... :D

Zephon

LOL!  Even Cubs fans call him Sorryano.  He and Duncan are pretty much a matched pair.  Both pretty worthless in the field, and not making up for it with the bat.

Loss today.  Kind of expected though with Thompson pitching against Lilly.  I think we match up pretty good for tomorrow's double header though.

Not sure how your pitcher coming off the DL is going to be.

Lohse-Zambrano will be a good match.

I'm pretty confident we'll take Wainwright over Wells for the second game.

I expected a loss with Thompson pitching and Lilly being a lefty...we are hapless against lefties most of the time.  With Lohse back, is Thompson out of the rotation now?  (Please?)

I'll be happy with a split today, meaning a split in the series.  Pujols has to sit one game today.  I wonder which one?  We're capable of winning without him for one game, it just doesn't happen very often.  That's why I think we'll split today.  I'd be ecstatic if we won both games today, though! ;D

7-3 going into the 8th- feeling a little better about game 1.

sdcforever

I like our lineup for game 2.  I thought for certain Albert would sit one of these games, but it's not the case.  Wainwright will hopefully have another strong start.

I think whoever wins this division will be limping into the playoffs.  The Cards, Cubs, Reds, and Brewers all have a chance, but all of us have so many issues that one or two trades before the deadline will not be able to adequately address all of them.

2 to 1 after the 1st- looks like a long night.

All four runs so far are from Ludwick homers.  ;D

Cardinal's division lead at the All Star break = 2.5 games.  Wish it were 10, but good enough.  I wouldn't have predicted this at the beginning of the season, but I thought we would be close.  This division could still go to anybody except maybe the Pirates.  Houston is back in the thick of things, watch out for them, they're usually a second half team.

Home Run Derby going on now.  Like to see Albert in there at the end.  And for goodness sakes, can the National League please win the game tomorrow.

Albert gave a nice run and put on a good show; no shame in bowing out in the second round.  He did better than I thought he would since Dave McKay wasn't available to pitch to him.  He had to use Luis Dorante, the Pirates bullpen coach.

I hope Albert gets a couple of big hits tomorrow in a win by the National League! ;D

Albert obviously wasn't comfortable in the Derby, and he surely had a good reason to be tired: he played a double-header the day before in some serious heat.

For me, the best part of the Derby was seeing Albert and his son A.J. having a good time together.  :)
