I am systematically creating collages of the structures at SDC, here is a start.

thanks! I have them set up for poster size when I get the $$ for it.  I have a few more that I need to post eventually. I took insiration from a photographer I studied while in college- David Hockney- and his collage work. If I can get to it in the next few days I'll post a few of the others.

That photo of the blacksmith shop is great.
The green of a spring tree in SDC against the old buildings and the black top is such a fresh happy color.

Here's another from the same trip...

So how many pictures do you have to take to make one of these?

rubedugans

Usually about 20-30, and then once I have them I either develop them/ print them, and collage them, or digitally stack/ layer the photos in a photo touch up program. I don't alter the photos in any way as I feel that it changes the look of the perspective.

More to come!!!! I just have to find them all!

Wow, nice work! At first, I questioned whether you could just simply stand thirty feet further back, and get the same effect in one big shot. However, the collages definitely adds an extra dimension to the pictures. It feels like you could almost step right into the scene.  :)

rubedugans

Oh yah it could surely be done from 30 feet back, but isn't that what hundreds of thousands of people do every year? I like to be a bit different! and seeing that this latest one measured over 10" high by 25" long...I'd say it is so worth the extra work! can't get that from 30' away!

Rube, these are really terrific, thanks so much, keep up the good work.
Vote to end 2020!
