Yeah, they have no reason to turn off the waterfall in the summertime. I hope the path behind the waterfall is brought back someday.

Hmmm, wouldn't it be nice if they re-did some of the old Jim Owen's canal and put a garden/rest area in next to it? That could be a really nice area for when they connect the loop from PK to Wildfire. I know for a fact that many people end up sitting around on Wildfire's deck or around PK's launch section for hours at a time waiting for their kids/loved ones to get done riding - they'd be appreciative of a nicer place to sit.

Coaster

I agree. The launch area around PK and the observation deck at Wildfire offer no shade at all.  I think it'd be a good idea to put in a rest area in that spot. Where is the canal located though?? I don't know if I've ever seen it.

It winds around and under the Wildfire overflow queue. I believe they still pump water through it, but I don't know how. I mean, the canal originally went past the whirlpool scene on AP. It must go pretty far back there, I've never been able to see exactly where it starts from Wildfire's lift.

Coaster

That's interesting. So is there even enough room for a rest area??

yeah they would have the room for it it would be a very nice touch to the new pathway, I don'nt know if you guys smoke or not this is kind of random but do you guys think that the smoking areas take away the effect of the old days and i hate the smell of smoke!!!!

I hate the smell of smoke too, which is why I'm glad they keep the smokers in small areas. I'd like to see them do away with it completely (no offense to smokers, but you wouldn't like it if I went around setting stink bombs off around you), but that kind of thing can drastically hurt attendance. Smokers have a hard enough time coping with 'being unreasonably forced away from society' as if smoking is a part of their humanity and they have to do it around other people.

Coaster

I was going to post that earlier but I was afraid someone here smoked so I didn't. I absolutely HATE the smell of smoke. And it's not good for my sister, because if she's around too much she'll get asthma. So we walk by really fast through the smoking areas.

I have a very strong negative physical reaction to cigarette smoke. I mean, I can be sitting in my room, and my stepdad can be outside a story down from my closed window, and I can still physically pick up on the smoke. My chest tightens, my breathing gets shallow, etc.

So, I like that SDC has created designated areas. As much as I'd love to see them go completely smoke-free, I have a stepmom who smokes a lot, and if they had no areas to smoke in, she just wouldn't be able to go to SDC at all. I WOULD like to see them perhaps move a couple of the areas where they're a bit farther from the main areas of traffic 'cause sometimes the smoke wafts over and it feels like there's no use even having designated areas.

in my opinion they should just do away with the smoking I mean if someone can't go without somking for 5 or 6 hours then they got some issues. Anyway do you guys know anything about seeing paint on the ground by wildfire for the new loop. I heard that from a friend but I don't know if its true or not, have you guys heard about it??

^No. I was under the impression that the loop completion wouldn't be for another few years.

Coaster

Yeah, I hope the loop gets done soon though. Save a lot of walking.

Of course, the loop also means more crowds for both PK and Wildfire. It's hard to explain, but the closer two large attractions are, the more people congregate around them. The new woodie on the other side of the park will help some of that though.

Coaster

I understand completely. That's why in some other thread (I don't remember which) I posted that I don't want everything to be placed over on the left side of the park. You need some things over on the other side, so people aren't congested in one area. Right now the top two coasters (and FITH) are all pretty close together. The woodie on the right side would help a bunch.
