Heh, favorite smell? The hell if I know: the apple butter store, the skillets, the BBQ pits, the taffy shop, the wood cutter's hut, and the sweet shop all rank pretty high in terms of smell.

Joy

Ah. One of my favorite smells of SDC is a very weird one, but it's a smell that whenever I smell it elsewhere, my mind is immediately transported to SDC.

That smell would hot black asphalt. There's something about the wafts of steaming tar from the walkways in the dead of summer that just becomes an immediate memory maker. Now every time I get out of the car at a store or something and it's hot out and the ground is hot, I can smell that smell and SDC always comes into my mind. It's become a comfort smell.

I also love the smell of the leather shop, the giant skillets, the woodchips on the ground in various areas, sawdust in the homestead area, and the watery smell that wafts off of Lost River and Lake Silver with a nice cool mist.

That's pretty funny. I never expected the asphalt to be mentioned here. But it's kind of weird, I always remember that smell too. My favorite smell is in the candy factory. YUM! And then you turn the corner and go buy some. Great stuff.

Well, at this point, it's just about confirmed that Grandpa's mansion will get a make-over. As far as anything else goes though, everything is up in the air. I'm sure a number of possible options have been laid out as usual, and the upper management are waiting to choose. I do think though, that the city will try to appeal to the older, more mature crowd this year rather than younger families or thrill seekers. Young families have gotten the spotlight for the last several years, and thrill seekers will eat their hearts out next year - besides, old fogies are still one of SDC's largest attending groups.

I'm pretty much standing by what I said before about the Landing Midtown being revamped to hold more shops, but they may hold out on that area and add new shops elsewhere, like near the old Shanty Town area.

Coaster

Hmmmm, the old crowd. Interesting. So a new show?? I don't know what else they could do. More shops I guess.

they should jjust build a whole new area for the older folks that has shops shows and places to eat.

^Sounds a bit like what the entire park is already. Although, a new shopping hollow would be nice.

Coaster

We don't need a whole new shopping hollow. I think if they're going to be building some new shops they just need to build around the places where there is some space. The park needs to spread out some more. I was thinking this while I was at the park on Sunday, What would you guys think of a cheese shop? I think it'd be pretty cool. We could go in and get free samples. It'd be like Osceola Cheese. (if any of you know what that is).

^A cheese shop would work well in Wilson's farm. Hell, an entire dairy store with ice cream bar would work well in the farm.

Coaster

That is a really good idea!! Hmm, they could build on it.

Copper

That is a great idea and it would work with the parks theme as well. I agree Wilson's farm would be a perfect location. I think is about time to connect Powder Keg and Wildfire. That would be a great location for a ride and shop mix. There would be some great views of the Ozarks in that space as well. I think a drop tower would be cool here in theme of a shot tower. (molten lead was dropped from a tall tower to make bullets)  I also think they need to repair the buildings they have right now. I think it is embarrassing to have several buckets to catch the rain throughout the hospitality house, pottery shop, candy shop... Great ideas!

Coaster

The drop tower would look great on the path connecting Powderkeg and Wildfire.
