"That trip has to more than 50% cultural/historical or the wife will revolt."

I'm going to Europe again next year but I cannot even think about going to a amusement park with all the great historical and natural sites to see. I'm with your wife on this one.

There's a balancing act to be had but the kids and I will hit some parks to cut lose a bit. Plopsa De Panne is right there where we'll be showing them Flander's Fields and focusing on WWI. Efteling and Phantasialand are simply incredibly well themed and happen to have some neat lodging.

Efteling has some nice cottages that we can base a couple of days out of

We plan for the early part of June as most of Europe doesn't end their school and thus Holidays till late June.

We are  planning on either 14 days or 21 days. That's with or without Italy.

I'd love to go to Europe someday!  :)

I need to add Tulsa's Incredible Pizza as we spent to while day there today. The little spinning coaster is fun. And... then Tulsa decided to remind me of home as we walked out to this:

2 arrested after road rage incident leads to shots fired at Incredible Pizza in south Tulsa

TULSA - Police arrested a man and a woman after an alleged road rage incident led to shots fired in front of a family-friendly restaurant in south Tulsa.

Officers responded to Incredible Pizza near 71st and Memorial just after 5 p.m. Sunday.

They say they received multiple calls about an apparent road rage incident on Highway 169 southbound.

Police say the occupants of a maroon Nissan felt that another car tried to run them off the road. They say the people in that other car were following a family member and her daughter to her kid's birthday party.

Officers say the Nissan followed the two cars to the parking lot of Incredible Pizza and got out of the car. They say one of the victims saw one of the passengers in the Nissan had a gun and they began to fight over it.

Police say the gun went off three times during the struggle. No one was hurt.

They say the victims were able to wrestle the gun away from the suspect and security at Incredible Pizza took him into custody.

Officers arrested the man with the gun and the woman who was driving the Nissan. They say they had a child in the car with them and a family member came to the scene to pick him up.

Police have not released the names of those arrested.

So, while researching this trip of mine that tentatively planned for 2018 i've discovered Poy du Fou, which has been decided upon as a must do, and there's nearby Futuroscope.  Anyway, I was reading up on Venice and found an article where the cash strapped Italian gov't is selling a 99 year lease for a Venetian Island that's been sort of abandoned, has an old hospital and stuff and how the the locals don't want it developed but be a park for actual residents and I saw where another one was getting some resistance but was progressing along. This island is basically the old dump and Mr. Zamperla has stepped in and said he'd clean what is the equivalent of a Super Fund site and build a Venetian themepark. Now, I'm all about theme parks but do we.need one on a Venetian Island?
