We had 69 attendees for Coaster Christmas and we packed Reunion Hall for lunch and presentations.  I left the park around 6pm and there was quite a back up at the Hospitality House entrance down to OMP and especially at the trams.  I decided to walk because I parked out at the Old C turn around and honestly it was quicker to walk than wait on a tram to take me to 4.  Loved that I got to start the day with rides on TNT, FITH, and PK.  VIP seating at Dickens then rides on WF.  Swing appeared to be moody yesterday as they could only get one arm working.  PK & WF only had one train running as well.

I talked to Mr. Heha again today and asked him what the final figures were for yesterday (Saturday, 12/4).... were over 19,000 at SDC. It was packed.  Today was not neary as packed. But still cold.  Thunderation, Fire in the Hole and Flooded Mine were the only "big" rides running. Thunderation closed around dusk due to temp. Did not go back into the Grand Exposition today.

Hey folks, I have a little survey I'd like to do.  As I mentioned earlier I was at the City over Thanksgiving Weekend and had a great time.  Is it just me, or is this time of year a better time to ride WF and PK?  Just seemed to me that maybe because of the cool, clear air at this time of year that the rides were faster, and just overall a better thrill.  What do you think?

Holy moly, what a weekend!
Mom, Grandma, Aunt, Sister and I left Jeff City about 630.  Went straight to the tanger outlets and shopped until afternoon.  The stores were busy but not packed and ample parking was available.  We then went to Lone Star for a burger and it was great and had fantastic service.  Next stop was a quick check in at Deer Run Motel.  We love it there.  It is not fancy but serves our purposes perfectly.
We headed to the city (I think we arrived about 3:15-3:30).  Sister and I headed straight to PowderKeg. It was my first time riding it (I usually have little kids with me and I have a fear of puking in public).  I am in love with a roller coaster!  It was an amazing ride!  after that round we ran over to the Christmas store to grab a couple things and then picked up our "Seasons Pass Ornament".  Mom, Grandma and Aunt  did the culinary class.  Since that still had thrity minutes we wnet back to powderkeg.  the second ride was even better.  It was colder and darker so the ride felt faster!  Except a brief moment at the top when we had a chance to see all of the lights in SDC, it was so beautiful. After we were done there we had a walk-on ride at Fire in the Hole.  A brief purchase at Honey Heaven and we met back up with cooking class attendees and were out of the city (by 10 til 6, so we avoided the parade) *Cooking Class review* Since they were expecting a hands on experience and/or take home the group was quite disappointed in the class. And I don't think the food was very good either*
Then we headed to The Landing for a stroll and shopping.  It was pleasant out and a wonderful atmosphere. To wrap up our Friday we hit our favorite Branson eatery, Mr Gs Pizza!  The Tony Orlando Salad and Mr Gs Special Pizza were the perfect end.
Saturday we took advantage of being child and husbandless again in the morning.  Went to Dick's 5 and 10.  That is an experience in itself.  We had fun and it was pretty busy in there.  Next was the red roof outlets; not much there but we had specific stores in mind.
By this time the kids and guys were arriving in Branson so we headed back to Deer Run to get everyone bundled up for the afternoon and evening at SDC.
SDC was mostly wonderful!  Went straight to Santa Claus to get pictures and give our wishes. Then over to the GE for all the hopping and flying we could handle.  Followed by the train, the flooded mine, and the train again.  A sandwich at Big Jacks and two rounds on Fire in the Hole and it was parade time!  After the parade we milled about for a while then headed to the car.  As we were walking out I called Pizza by the Chef and they delivered to our room shortly after we got settled in there. (Yes we had pizza both nights of vacation)
Some notes about our time in park: The bathrooms were all immaculate, the train line moves fast(!), the flooded mine was busy but friendly, the staff in Santas Workshop were great, Santa was kind and patient, Big Jacks was slllooowww (and just mediocre), the wassail and hot chocolate are so good,  crowd was big, lights are so beautiful.

Addition to my thanksgiving review. Glad I went tho the Branson West Walmart between 8 & 9PM since they arrested the guy that went there before Midnight with a gun claiming the Walmart shoppers were out to get him.
SDC has always made a great past to remember

We're headed up this afternoon...can anyone tell me what the crowds are usually like on a Friday evening?  We've been after Christmas, but not before...very excited to see all the lights and have bread pudding from Eva & Delilah's!

Hey everyone!  I just visited the City on Thursday (December 9th) and had a great time!   The park was comfortable, not crowded AT ALL.

Of course OTC was beautifully decorated and the weather wasn't as cold as it has been the past few days.  I spent about 2 hours talking to June in the Candy Basement, saw Mr. HeeHaw and our very own Copper.   I couldn't ask for more, it was great!

Took the train before it became too crowded, but would have liked to wait until later.  Man, I forgot how much of the illusion is shattered when you can see through the trees into back areas.  RiverBlast and quite a few other attractions were running, but I had no interest in riding; but honestly, I would have had the run of the place if I did.

Jack and Pete were also on park for the employee Christmas luncheon, so that was cool.  All in all, just a nice casual day with no hassles.  Great job SDC!

We were there over Thanksgiving Weekend and also rode those rides at night. Yeah, it seems better, especially in the dark, however, the flashes from the camera took me by surprise....

I am not sure if this was the best place to post these, but here's my pictures from my December 4th trip. There are pictures of A Christmas Carol in here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/roseykrh/sets/72157623523178877/

We went to the city on Friday evening and stayed until closing.  The weather was incredible, especially considering the cold front that came through Saturday afternoon.  We stopped at Eva & Delilah's for some bread pudding and a cinnamon roll and walked onto the square just in time for the tree lighting.  From there, we went down to Powderkeg...my sister and I rode once in car three and then hurried back around to car one for another trip...PK in winter in the dark is the most awesome coaster experience I've ever had!  Reaching the top of the second drop and seeing the City awash in light made it even better.  Then we rode FITH and walked out just in time to catch the parade.  After that we walked over to the candle shop so my daughter could make some Christmas presents and then we picked up our season pass ornaments.  Then we headed back down to the Saloon for the Christmas show...best one I've ever seen!  The girl who played Sally was hilarious, and I always enjoy watching Choctaw Charlie.  By the time the show was over we had just enough time to walk over to the Flooded Mine and ride through before heading back up to the front for a stop at the Apple Butter shop before heading back to the hotel.  The best part was taking my mom and sister to see the SDC lights for the first time...they were definitely not disappointed!

Oh, and I got my 2011 season pass...see you next March!
