Six Flags St. Lous To Get A Woodie?

Two coasters in two years?!?!?  WOW!!!!!!!  I am happy for the park and shocked all at once.  I am especially happy about a small twister.  Does this guarentee Screaming Eagle's demise over the next 3-5 years though? Orrrr- they couldn't possibly be thinking of making STL the next mega park?  Surely not.

Why would they even consider taking out SE?

Tom

I've read other people talking about that possibility.  I personally hope they don't remove Screaming Eagle.  I only love the coaster more every time I ride it.  I was hoping that if I mentioned it, someone would either fan the flame with confirmation or knock the rumor down.  I think that the possibility has to be looked at.  Three woodies?

Eagle Rider

Trust me, the Eagle is there to stay!   ;)

Do they have any pictures of the new woodie out?

Meh, if any woodie is to go, my bet would be on the Boss. Although that would seemingly be a bad business decision based on the fame Boss brings to the park, maitainence and the fact that no one likes the ride would make it much more likely to get taken out over most everyone's favorite ride at SFStL, nostalgically speaking.

Screamscape has some pictures, but they don't do the ride justice. This should give you a better idea -> http://rcdb.com/ig2955.htm?picture=34

If it turns out like Thunderbird did, it'll be an easy winner.

Man, if it's anything like that, it'll be very compact. I sure hope SDC's will be bigger than that. If we get one.

If we get one, it'll be a custom, conformed-to-the-terrain beast. Just as with most things at the park, if SDC gets a woodie, it'll be planned out carefully to be the absolute greatest ride it could be. I'm pretty sure the Herschends have been planning on a woodie for some time now, so they'll really be ready to work their magic on this beast.

Anyway, I'm still having trouble seeing why specifically a woodie like this was chosen for SFStL this year. I mean, it's nice and all, but wouldn't a large new looping coaster or a hyper make more marketing sense?

Coaster

Maybe SFSL is trying to be the 'woodie' park....

I don't know though. If their planning on taking out any of the two existing woodies they should take out the Boss. After riding that thing you need some Aspirin. But I don't think they'll remove any of the rides. Not very much business sense.

The Boss is a total pain.  I would love it if SF swallowed their pride and burned that thing to the ground.

So is the name of the new coaster actually Evel Keneval (sp?)? Wow, I thought that was only the theme... See, to some degree, this theme could work, but it would have done much better on a Vekoma motorbike coaster, or something similar, not a regular wooden coaster. They could have just opened a zoology book and picked a random animal to name it after rather than attempt something so... odd. The same goes for Goliath at SFFT.

Hell, Beaver: The Ride would have been much better.

Shaver-
"The same goes for Goliath at SFFT"  AMEN! What a stupid name for a Batman at only 105 feet.  I wonder if everyone will call it Batman anyway.  Hey- do they call the other identcal coaster in the same town only 11 miles away at SEAWORLD, Batman too.  Is that insane or what?  I have never heard of building twin 10 million dollar investments in the same small city.  SF took a stupid pill.

Shaver-
Sorry to mention you again, but your posting was nothing short of brilliant.  You're absolutely correct that a motorcycle coaster would have been totally ground breaking.  SFSTL would have put itself on the map.  "You the Man" Shaver

Suggested names for the existing coasters at Six Flags StL:

Sean Hannity's American Eagle

Bruce Springstein's Boss

Bruce Lee's Ninja

Batman (Remain the Same)

Mr. Freeze (Remain the Same)

Boss Hogg's Mine Ride ?

Tony Hawk  (Remain the Same)

Johnny Boy

Well yes the name of a stunt man probably doesn't go well with a woodie. I could see a red-white-and blue Euro fighter with multiple interversions being called this. But the track lay out is great, and it's very compact. Compact Woodies are always cool because it look like your going to hit the tracks. This happens once in The Boss.
