1.  The Beverly Hillbillies/SDC DVDs
2.  The 50th Anniversary Book (and any others that contain SDC history) I already own the Chrystal Payton book.
3.  An SDC T-shirt.  In all my trips to the City I'm sorry to say I haven't yet bought one.

That's it for now, but there will be probably more to come.

Just 4 weeks from today we leave for SDC!!!! ;D

My fiance' wants a keychain & a leather wallet.
I have 2 SDC shirts, one with the ol' logo on it printed nice & big. And the other, the letters look like ol' leather. My girl has 4 shirts. We used to have Fire in the Hole shirts but realized red is very hot, so we gave them to our daughters.

Dang, we have plan'd a trip for June 12th weekend. ;D

We'll probably pick up a bite to eat.  Everything else is on impulse.

Gotta get Beverly Hillbillies DVD, Anniversary book and any other interesting anniversary related items, and a cap or t-shirt with logo on it.

A Sarsaparilla and some Kettle Corn.

Ooooh yeah, kettle corn-they have the bestest there is, bar none.  The first trip I'll have will be the Southern Gospel Picnic, so I suspect something related to it.  I need a new shirt from SDC that's for sure and maybe a treat for the kids.  Other than that, I usually don't buy a whole lot, just go for the sheer joy of being there.
Vote to end 2020!

Just curious...Are there other books that deal with SDC history other than Crystal Payton's "The Story of Silver Dollar City", and the new anniversary book?  I would like to see one that has more detail.  I'd like to hear more about things like the process of building FITH and FMS, the theming philosophy, and a better chronology of the development of the park.  HB, maybe you should write one!   :D

My book would be about the history behind the park.  The names of things.  The events presented.  Those kinds of connections that bring fiction and history together.

Not to tease, but cutting through red tape has yet again caused a stall for my book, but once it is out it better be on ALL OF YOUR LISTS !!!

My big project is on hold due to my ankle being broken. Ran into a huge problem with funding for the printing process, too. Recently had a main contact for the project contact me again with additional info, so it may be a good thing the project is on hold because I will likely have to go back and rewrite a chapter due to the new info. I hope it will see the light of day within a couple months, but the way things are going, it's hard for me to predict. Rube is right, there is a lot of red tape to cut through. Many people drag their feet instead of getting up and running with you. Some folks do it just because they can throw a monkey wrench in the works. Keep your fingers crossed for me, 'cause when it does come out, I think the core audience will like what they see.

So Rube, will your book be like the one I said I'd like to have?

I found the Payton book to be a little erratic in terms of the chronological order of things, and a little sketchy on things like how decisions were made to add certain rides and areas.  I'm also curious as to just when they realized they were building a theme park, and how much they were influenced by Disneyland which started just 5 years earlier.

There has been some slight complaints of the Payton book at SDCFans.com in the past. I'm personally upset they spelled Rube Dugan's Diving Bell as "Duggins" or something similar to that. There are slight errors, like the date on a park map is incorrect, should have been 1973 instead of whatever it says...it overall is a "happy" book that lightly touches on some topics, and avoids others...not much discussion on SDC Tennessee and the Whitewater chain, the first projects SDC undertook to diversify. It is a pretty book, well illustrated with fairly good basic info.
