With Junior's idea of wanting to see an SDC Monopoly game, this sounds like a great opening for ideas! And no, folks...I am not doing another "top" list  ;) LOL! I thought an SDC Monopoly would spawn some great ideas by all of us if we could design it. So how do we do it?

What two properties are Boardwalk and Park Place?

What are the two cheap purple properties right after GO! that no one hardly buys?

What do you put in the CHANCE and COMMUNITY CHEST cards?

What are the Utilities?

Since SDC has one Railroad, what do you do with the other three railroad spaces?

Let's see if we can design this game! Ideas? Opinions?

A few of my ideas are...

FREE PARKING should be TRAM PARKING

Some of the fees of the CHANCE cards could have you being robbed by the Bolins, getting married in the Wilderness Church, renewing season passes, Flooded Mine repairs, cut in line at American Plunge (go back 3 spaces).

One of the pieces you move around the board could be an anvil.

For the record, I think it was tinaalsgirl who sparked the Monopoly idea in the other thread.

QuoteSince SDC has one Railroad, what do you do with the other three railroad spaces?
Parking Trams, Butterfield Stage, Electric Carts, and River Raft?

QuoteWhat are the Utilities?
Waterwheel, Steam, Mule - How many utilities are there?

QuoteWhat do you put in the CHANCE and COMMUNITY CHEST cards?
Stopped by a photographer - pay $20

Would you still build houses (cabins) and hotels, or would you build refreshment stands and ride attractions?

QuoteOne of the pieces you move around the board could be an anvil.
A log, an ax, a stroller, a slouch cap, a deputy badge

I just looked at a real Monopoly board. We have to figure out the following...

There are:

22 properties

4 Railroads

2 tax spaces

2 utilities

Do we make the properties all shops and shows? Are rides our Railroads? What are the tax spaces?
Good question by HB! Do you build hotels and houses? What are the buildings we build?

Props to tinaalsgirl and my apologies. I didnt see that thread. One point for tina and half a point for Junior. LOL!

First off, I agree with HB in the two tax spaces being Preferred Parking and Souvenier Stand

Here are my twenty two properties and four "railroads"

Marvel Cave, GF's Mansion, Hospitality House, Wilderness Church, McHaffie's, Oak Trail School, Echo Hollow, Culinary/Craft School, General Store, Post Office, Flooded Mine, Tom Sawyer's Landing, Frisco R.R., Carrie's Candles, Gun & Knife Shop, Hannah's, Sullivan's, Rube Dugan's Diving Bell, Jim Owen Float Trip, Giant Swing, American Plunge, Lost River (Yes, I brought back Rube and J. Owens and I am not sure what to make the Park Place and Boardwalk properties.)

The railroads are: WildFire, Thunderation, FITH and PowderKeg (I did this since they are technically "rail" rides)

I am at a loss for the two utilities.

And I am still trying to think up more CHANCE and COMMUNITY CHEST cards.

Remember folks, I have only been to SDC twice in almost thirty years so I am going by very little info and memory. I know you may not agree with some of these picks, but that's the fun of the whole thing!

Wow, you're not really going to charge people who land on the Wilderness Church and the Oak Trail School, are you?

I'd use the Frisco Railroad instead of Fire in the Hole for a railroad, since the rails on FitH are less seen.

I'd suggest you need to group properties:
Main Street/Square
Midtown
Grand Exposition
Riverfront

Perhaps the two best properties are Marmaros and Marvel Cave (Devils Den)

Cards:
Help row oar cart - lose a turn
Caught line jumping - go to jail
You have been deputized - receive $30 from each player
Recruited to fight fires - lose $10
Timothy Turnbuckle transports you forward in time - advance to Go.

I might be partial here though but I'd love to see Brown's Candy Factory.  In fact, I would love a focus on all the Master Craftsmen in some way.

I like the idea of sections of the City that History Buff suggested and the pieces that Andy suggested were right on for me.

Somehow it would be great if we could add in some of the old billboards and sign postings as the cards you pull out of the pile.   (Dentist, rain maker, "you looked in the peep hole", etc)

for the cheap properties you could go with Alfie and Ralphie Bolan's shack and the the mayors shack of pottersville.
one utilitie could be the water wheel

jmc75

better yet one of the cheap properties might be the hobo caboose

betamike

or foot power (how most people in the hills get around)

OK! OK! Get it produced so we can buy a copy already!  ;)
"Howdy there folks! My name is Junior Dugan, and I'll be drivin' your diving bell!"

Chance cards- Blasted by Tom and Huck pay 10$, Wildfire derailed pay 150$ in repair fees. One of the properties u could build could be ralphie bolans cabin then gyser gulch. Somethin should be done with the tree house. I dont know what........
The smell of asphalt and butane says home!

I may be wrong, but there aren't Monopoly "properties," rather they are all "streets" or "avenues."  So wouldn't you want to find out all the street names in SDC?  Like Hill street, Main street, etc.  Or...there are 8 color groups, and looking at the SDC map you could name them Main Street, Homestead Ridge, Midtown Avenue, Valley Road, Exposition Avenue, Riverfront Lane, Wilson's Farm Road, Hill Street.  To get the 2 or 3 sections of each color group, you could designate them East, West, Central, North, South, Central.  Then instead of houses, you have concession stands and smaller shops.  Instead of hotels, you have a major ride, show, or shop from the appropriate area, i.e., Homestead Ridge would have McHaffie's Homestead, the Wilderness Church, and the Apple Butter Shop;  Hill Street might have the Opera House, the Saloon, and Heartland Furniture.  I like the idea of major "rail" rides becoming the RR's.  A Water Works would be appropriate as well as a Gas Company.  Income Tax could stay the same, Luxury Tax could become Show Lover's Pass.  I don't see why the corners of the board would have to change at all, but that's just me.
"Why do they call them Wild Women?"
